Continue my plans from last year:

In 2016, I rode from Prudhoe Bay to Mexico and hence 2017 is to ride from Mexico to Argentina.

Tour #1 will be 3 weeks in Portugal in April/ May. This will be our second tour. Love Portugal. Tour #2 in September/ October. Lake Constance, Saar, Mosel and Rhine rivers. We have 4 weeks for this tour. We no longer camp but use b&b's and inns. Mileage is 50 to 60 kms per day with lots of time for enjoying the local culture.

I'll be doing the Southern Tier in 2017. It'll be my 6th long distance tour but my first across the south. Departing San Diego on February 15th and hoping to arrive into St. Augustine by May 1st. I'm going with one other rider at least. Still waiting to hear confirmation on a third rider due to a family situation they have. It'll be my first time touring with people I don't know for long periods of time. The Southern Tier was on my bucket list only because there's 10 states I haven't been to and the Southern Tier passes through 4 of them. New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

I have a 12-14 day trip planned around the mid North Island of New Zealand in the second part of February. Have already scoped out a route with lots of back roads, a pile of climbing, plenty of camping, and hopefully some incredible views. Will include the Motu Road, Lake Waikaremoana, the Gentle Annie route and a couple of other popular trails, starting from and returning to Stratford. Will pick up a travelling mate for the first time part way through, so should be interesting. Will also endeavor this year to improve my photographic skills to hopefully capture a little of the beauty.

If everything falls into place I'll be doing a Kansas City, MO to Washington D.C. trip from late June to mid August. This will be my first long trip (I have done a few short ones). I guess I'll figure out what I'm doing as I go. I assume I'll be going alone because I'm doing absolutely nothing to find anyone, even though having a companion might be nice. It will be a slow trip though - it'll be summer and hot, I'm not in the best condition (yet), and most important - I want to see the country. Watch the plains turn into midwestern farmland, then the eastern hills, finally tidewater. I'd like to see the farms, cities and towns and parks, meet the people. This is going to be an adventure and journey, not a length string of consecutive bike rides. Looking forward to it. (And I guess if this really sounds interesting to you - message me.)

Lots of things up in the air for me at the moment, having just started a new job and just recovered from the worst illness I've ever had. If I can get away in July/August, I'd love to go somewhere in Eastern Europe this time, possibly Poland and/or the Czech Republic. Failing that, I might look at visiting Sri Lanka later in the year. That's a place that's fascinated me for a while. Vietnam is another I'm considering, although that isn't as likely as the other destinations at this stage.

Plan is to fly out June 12th and start riding the next day. 12 days of riding, with one easy day of about 30. One day is up to Longan Pass without gear and then back down again.

This is all contingent on how kitty is doing. He was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and started chemo back on Monday.

River routes in Germany. Two riders. Start in Dusseldorf on July 1 to see first stage of Tour de France 2017. Follow the Elbe River and tributaries until returning to Frankfurt. Trip is to be from June 28 to July 26. Join us if you can.

Iceland for a week and a half. Been there before, but not on a bike, I've been longing to go back and I've always wanted to see the never ending summer Arctic daylight!

Will also be my first longer non-CC tour, and more than likely my first solo tour. Still not sure exactly where, either around the Golden Triangle, or more preferably if I can make the logistics work, the West Fjords, a place I missed on my last trip.

I have two trips planned this year.

The first one is to cycle from Florence to Roma via of Assisi a trip of about 600 km very slow to see sites and enjoy my self. The is January 23- Feb 5 during my winter holiday.

Secondly I will cycle most/some of the way from Juneau to Salt lake in June and July. At that point I may be going on a a one year trip.

I'll be riding across the US (S->N) in June. Still debating on the route. I have this planned out, but I might change the start point to Yuma. I was also thinking about starting in El Paso and finishing in North Dakota, but that would be very flat.

FYI...I have heard that U.S. 93 along Flathead Lake is pretty busy. MT 35 doesn't have a shoulder. Consider taking MT 200 then MT 83 to Bigfork. That's the way ACA's Great Parks North goes.

Also, there are some nice alternate roads that get you off of U.S. 93 for a couple of spells between Whitefish and Eureka. They are on ACA's Northern Tier route. I have ridden them and can vouch for them. If you need snacks, etc., take the short hop from U.S. 93 into the center of Olney, MT. There is a cool, old store with a collection of old pop bottles.

We are planning a family trip from Pittsburgh to D.C. On the great Allegheny Trail.

We would take our 3 year old and 5 year old. Both would ride in child seats behind the rider. They are little, only 28 lbs each.

I'm looking at taking the BOB ipex cargo trailer because with the bike seats there is no good way of attaching panniers.

The other option is getting the weehoo blast which the kids would sit in and we would be able to attach our packs to the racks and weehoo trailer.

If you have any suggestions please share.

Our plan is to take 6-7 and then spend 2-3 in DC because we have never been.

We would B&B and hotel it, so if you know of any good ones let me know.

I've heard of it! I stayed in Cleveland Heights and biked from there to Canton. Passed through Northfield, Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Akron before getting to Canton. I remember seeing Hudson on the maps and I made my way south.

Why does BF mark G.A.T. as a negative term when it's used without the periods? Interesting....

I want to do the Great Allegheny Trail sometime in the future.

Trying to convince the GF to go to South America for a year on fat bikes. It's the only place left that I've never ridden a bike. Thinking Bogota to La Paz or to Chile.
