Fake or real Zipp 404 NSW

Hello,

I'm looking to buy these wheels and would like to verify if they're authentic, what should I look for to make sure that they're the real deal?

Thanks!

No pictures that allow you to see the hubs seems odd.

Exactly my thoughts! I asked him for pictures of the hubs and I'm currently waiting, any other parts that sets the real thing apart?

If you have to ask, the answer is a resounding no! ZIPP does not sell fake wheels in addition to their real ones and neither do authorized ZIPP retailers. If you are trying to buy them from some random person whom you do not know and can't trust why would you believe they are real. I wouldn't unless they are a Authorized ZIPP retailer or at least a legitimate bike shop with a QBP or SRAM account. Those wheels are a little over 3k for the set according to ZIPP's own website. Also another useful note on ZIPP's newer stuff they are using sublimated graphics rather than decals they have used in the past.

If you have to hide stuff in your photos, you must be hiding a lot. ZIPP doesn't need to hide anything on their photos on their website or in press photos (except maybe in prototype stages)

Looks fake

I’d agree that if not clearly showing everything then something isn’t right. There is enough of the front hub showing tobtell it is not a Cognition hub which would likely mean it is not authentic.

Zipp does not use proprietary spokes, so hubs from other vendors can be laced in. I have installed vendor hubs in Zipp rims to replace failed hubs more than once.

Those spokes and the huge taper connecting to the nipples are dead giveaway of the DHgate copies.

I would agree that the bladed spokes look to be wider than CX Rays which is Zipp's standard spoke.
