Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can’t help it

So I recently purchased a 2019 Cannondale Quick 1 with 105 Gruppo. Great bike to say the least but can’t help wanting a true road bike as well. Trek has the 2019 Domane Sl5 with 105 and 500 series cf frame for $1999. My brain says I want it

Looks like a sweet bike! Disc Brakes or not?

The real question is : What does your wallet think about that?

Yeah it’s the disc brake version. Got a deal on a leftover 2019 for $1100. Wallet is cool with road bike, wife is a different story

This is potentially a stupid question, but how receptive would that Quick 1 be for a drop-bar conversion?

If the deal is good, why not? You can always grab some flowers if needed.

Should just be new shifters and a drop bar.

If you rode the Domane and like it, I say go for it and buy the flowers!

I will say to make sure you ride it. I thought I wanted one based on specs and announcement info, but when I got around to riding it, I found I was looking for something else in my next road bike (that's how I ended up with a TCR).

I own a 2019 Domane SL 5 and it wasn't on sale.

I would totally jump at one for $2000.

Looks like the 2019 SL5 is out of stock in all sizes unless your LBS has one in stock. The Isospeed is supposed to be great.

FWIW, I made the jump from a fitness bike similar to the Quick 1, to a gravel bike, & finally to a used road bike. I went with the concept of used because I knew it wouldn't hurt too bad when I sold it. If I don't like it, I will sell it & if I do like it, I will likely upgrade to a carbon fiber Domane. Either way, I will sell it and get most of my money back. Just food for thought.

Drop bar convert that Quick, it'll be fine as a road bike especially with a 105 group.

Also take the wife out for dinner with the savings.
