Hello from W-S, NC
I started cycling in the Spring of 2003, I was teaching my son how to ride his bike, I was tired of running beside him so I found me a old used orange Roadmaster. the bike was so old and rusty it was impossible to change gears. 2004 I went to a lbs and got me a 4300 which I ride today and its really been a good bike. I plan on getting a roadbike this spring. If I have time I Try and ride at least Once a day around the Winston Salem Area. My longest ride so far is 63 miles, for 2005 I rode 154 hours and 2190 miles, my goal for 2006 is 3000 miles.
I am 44 years old, married, with two Children. A Girl(5) and Boy(4). My son loves to ride and does a pretty good for his age. My little girl tries really hard to ride, but she rides as slow as a snail. My wife got her a 3700 and she is cycling to lose some weight. Well thats about it for now...

Welcome from the Asheville area. That is pretty darn good for a part time venture. You rode more than I. I plan on changing that this year however. Congrats and wish my wife would get a bike and share the passion with me.

Cycling may have solutions for some of your situations. The girl may find one of the trailer bikes to her liking. The type that has a rear wheel and attaches to an adult bike. The child still has pedals and a wheel to drive. Now if you can get the wife on a tandem joined to your girls' machine you three could 'race' the boy. Family happiness.
