And I really like this photo, too.

Awesome job on the bike! Exactly what is at the top of my wish list. I fell in love with the nine16 when I saw one on CL for $300.00. I had just got laid off
and didn't think I had the money to buy it. It stayed listed for 3 weeks and I decided what the heck...buy it! Got online and it was gone. Glad you got one.
Love the bar tape scheme...I will copy it for sure.

My wife helped with the tape (she's awesome); thanks it did turn out nice. I still don't quite understand how that wrap works, I need to practice with some cheap tape.

Thanks, they are pretty hard to find. I've been watching eBay for 6 months and have only seen a couple.

Nice job!
Is that a 2x9 drivetrain?

Thanks, it's 2x8. I tried to stay with period stuff as much as possible, the hubs & cassette were NOS Dura Ace, but I went with a newer Shimano R700 compact crankset. The brakes, front & rear derailleur were period Dura Ace but slightly used.

Yes, 50 & 34t chainwheels are much more usable than the old-school stuff. The bike should perform as well as most modern bikes while retaining the ride and appearance of bikes from the "Golden era."

I've said it many times...I LOVED my 916 and wish to hell I hadn't sold it. Yours is far prettier, mine had the decals removed by the prior owner. Mine was also stock with 600 tricolor stuff, yours is majorly tricked out. LOVE IT!

The handlebar tape is some of the best ive seen on BF. Is that custom using two different colors of tape or is it just save crazy tape that happened to work perfectly?

Steel is real, baby!
Awesome build! VERY pretty!!
I'd love to see some close ups of the top tube and fork graphics.

Did you sell it in Philadelphia? I bought the 916 a couple of years ago from a really cool guy.

I was thinking the same thing! The two tone tapes I've tried always end up looking pretty lousy. His looks fantastic...just a beautiful build.
