I have recently fallen in love with riding and I need to find a good bike. The problem is that I know next to nothing about bikes, but I do think that I want a road bike. I do realize that bikes can be extremely expensive and I do not fall into this category of buying an expensive bike. My budget is around $500 or less and this probably limits some of my options. I really don’t care if it is a used bike or a new bike I just want something that is a good product that I can enjoy. I have done some research on the web and I think that I am a 58cm to 60cm bike (I’m 6’2 230). I love to run but recently I have found a new passion for cycling. Also, I currently live in west phoenix so any good local shops that someone may know would be great. I heard this website was a great source of information so I am asking for some help on the matter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nothing. Ha. I jump on my wifes bike (Trek Hybrid), even though it is way to small.

I, as i'm sure many would, would suggest shopping around at LBS or on craigslist for used bikes. If you are patient enough i'm sure you can find a pretty good deal on a used bike. Plus you get to ride the bike to see if you like it, which is the biggest advantage over buying online. I hope you find a bike that you will enjoy!

Or the Dawes 1000? I am looking for a good recreational road bike that I can ride 10 to 60 miles on that is under $500.
