DIY wall mounted bike hanger.
I posted an image of this in the Today I Thread and a few of you seemed to like it. So I wrote up an ultra fast guide that can be found :HERE:

looks great, I ended up just getting a cheap one from Home Depot (about $10 i recall). I like what you did though.

It's also an excellent way to make a removable, worktable mounted work-stand.
Install flange to worktable, screw the handlebar/stem/pipe assembly into the flange when you want to work on it, unscrew and stow when done. Or you could mount the flange to a small block of 4x4, clamp to any table for work time and then remove and store.

also, screw that **** into a stud unless you want to repair drywall.

You don't have to drill into a stud if you properly use anchors.
You must have one hell of a tall girlfriend...
I also would have opted to make my own wooden shelf/rack, unfortunately I don't have the tools to do a decent job.

Properly mounted anchors? I use a lot of anchors and it doesn't matter how properly anchored it is if the weight is too much it won't hold. Now toggle bolts work real well but even them have their limits.

I'm with this guy. 4 screws using drywall anchors doesn't sound like its gonna hold a 20 pound bike on the end of a foot long lever for very long.
I'd aim for a stud.

As someone who does picture framing for a job, I can tell you that using heavy duty anchors will work just fine. I've hung plenty of 50lbs + (not local bike shop ) mirrors with these. But of course, a stud is optimal.
