I can only get bursts at that speed. If I took my diet and riding a bit more seriously, I would imagine that it would be much easier to maintain that type of speed for longer than I do.

You are right though, I do need to spin faster. I'm really good at maintaining a steady cadence and pushing slowly; spinning not so much. I'm trying to work on control at high RPM as of now my hips tend to bounce around too much when I really get spinning.

I have the white helmet/shoes/sleeves in the mid ground. That's a 250m world class velodrome at altitude. These speeds aren't that extraordinary. Mass start racing on fast track will produce those speeds very often. I'm no sprinter, but world class guys hit 40mph+ pretty easily.
I know, I know, this is supposed to be a thread about the bikes and I know that e-validation is a bummer.

That is really cool thanks for your information. I want to try track racing but the nearest velodrome is 2hrs away from me in Portland or Seattle. Maybe someday...

Hooray, I can join y'all! Just got this bad boy in the mail today, Pake (I'm assuming Rum Runner, although it is awful light...but I'm used to a 2040 hi-ten classic Motobecane Super Mirage 12 Speed). I need to get a front brake for it, and as someone else in the thread said, get the wheels trued and have it gone over...but I'm super thrilled, especially since I got it for $231 shipped!

My friend, I've already said that this bike does not see the street. Its a dedicated track bike.
