rear wheel making ping type noise

rear wheel makes a noise not always but under load like a ping. not out of true. is it spokes to loose or tight?
need to go to shop I guess.

They can do that when a wheel is first trued if the spokes aren't stress relieved properly.

if it all of the sudden started doing it for no reason than I would check for broken or loose spokes. Bent rims can upset the spoke tension as well.

Like under load on the largest cog with the RDER "ticking" the spokes?

no. single speed. they run straight, smooth but if I gitty up it makes the noise if coast nothing. under power but not always...

I would check the spoke tension, since it sounds like something might be too tight or under too much tension. If they all seem okay, then I would check the axle for play & smoothness. Sometimes the bearings will make noise when they are not preloaded correctly or when the grease in the hub has started to turn gummy.

True. I've had that happen with a fresh new wheel, but it never lasts beyond the first 100' of travel.
