Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does he have piles of less-than-half-used tires in his shop? You should take them off his hands. Or tell him to STFU. It's a toss-up.

Finally got out today - it was a little less miserable - and was rewarded with a couple nice welts from some insects, presumably also pissed off about the weather. One, on my hip, is most certainly a bee/wasp sting. I noticed the sting, but didn't see the bee/wasp; it must have gotten caught up in the bottom of my vest. The ride was nice enough, otherwise. I think that, rather than going to pot with the light week, I've been able to recover.
Time to fly south for the winter.

If the shipping weren't a pain, I'm sure people here would run my "dead" tires for a few thousand more miles.

I think I might have to sell my Ridley. It has 6700 on it, and after a little test ride around the block, I don't care if I never use that shifting system again.

Wasn't that the last of the side-exit shifting cables? I thought those were well-regarded. I never had issues with mine.

In other news, we have anyone here in the Charlotte, NC area? There's a possible future branch in which I actually go that way, depending what happens with AG's employer.

I've just been doing some maintenance.

I did some headset fiddling and put the stock 80mm stem back on. After re-wrapping the bar tape I kind of lost interest in the bikes today

If it's anything like Elizabeth City, NC, then there are just moderately sized bugs, but LOTS of them. And all the humidity any person could possibly ever want.

It looks like proper whole hog BBQ is available in Charlotte, so it might be worth it.
