Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hot again for me. You can have this week though; I need some recovery. Maybe I'll do an FTP test later in the week.

This morning the air is better. Under 100 AQI, first time since Wednesday. Funny thing is, we're all suffering from olfactory fatigue, and can't smell smoke anymore. I'm actually toying with the idea of riding on the road instead of the trainer. Discretion is the better part of valor, though. Do I REALLY want to be sucking this crap deep into my lungs?

My friend from the Bay area did a trainer ride yesterday instead of a real ride. The air quality must be pretty bad to force him indoors. Sad.

To make matters worse, where the road narrows to two lanes, the powers that be put a rumble strip on the center line, so it sounds like I'm being machine gunned whenever cars/monster trucks pass. Sigh.

Oh well, time for breakfast.

Maybe the mouse is doing intermittent fasting and doesn’t break his fast until afternoon?

If there's a busy morning of sleeping, pre-hydrating, internet usage, and riding through the suburban battlefield/walnut minefield, it might not happen until later.

Had a what would have been a fantastic ride, but was rather hurty with the hard efforts yesterday. It was still a great ride, though. And very hilly for a flatlander like me.

Is this how you do church in the COVID era? DougRNS is still streaming since we only have limited capacity. I hope my cardiology tests don't reveal anything serious. I don't want to be in the "at risk" category.

In other news, I have ridden 18 out of 19 days and 13 in a row.

Avoiding rain is key. <-- There's your nugget of advice.

Daughter sent us that. Coincidentally, the diver found unexplained scratches when he cleaned the bottom last week.

I thought that my 4th fender installation would be the easiest.

The French killed that idea. 4 hours for that one today

There was actually sun this morning so a couple of the homies and I did a little 50 mile ride and it was pretty nice until the last 10 or so when the damn smoke came back in. Fortunately I have no common sense.
