Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Go to an organized ride. A lot of those are full of middle-aged women with good bodies who picked up cycling post divorce. Their combination of fitness, experience, and stamina will do things to you that you'll never forget. Then you won't worry about teeny-boppers at frat parties.

Cougar hunting at a group ride? I like your style.

I'm pretty sure she caught a glimpse. I was walking around in a full Garmin kit. I decided against Radio Shack because I didn't want to come off as a poseur.

Lol, I've seen girls shoot down guys because the guy happened to have the same first name as their ex-boyfriend, or some guy they hated that their friend was seeing, but they thought he was cheating on her...etc. :-D Just because this new, totally different guy happened to have the same *first name*, lol.

No one knows anything about cycling except other cyclists. I can never mention anything about cycling or even bikes to anyone, man or woman, who isn't a cyclist. They just don't care or don't want to know.

True, true. One of the groups I ride with makes me wish I wasn't married. There are several nice looking, middle-aged women that have very good figures,..... from riding....of course.

very true 383, i'm the only one out of my circle of friends that rides. after a good ride i try to tell them how good or bad it went. but they can care less. i cant even get any of my friends to ride or buy a bike. so i can understand why some chick at a party would be bored by avg mph or cadence talk.

Now, the proper way to go about using your power stats as a pickup line is to imply that you'll be putting out a 400W effort in the bedroom. Bonus points for doing this at a minimum cadence of 90, erm, "rpm."

Cliff's note's version of thread.

1) it likely had nothing to do with cycling.

2) talk about her, don't obsess about cycling when meeting new women.

3) find a better class of women, with interest similar to yours; treat them with respect.

I was at a party last weekend and was talking to an old friend about various things and cycling came up. We were talking about the sport when a very attractive girl walking by us said "Oh, you're cyclists? That's cool!" and proceeded to chat me up the rest of the night.

So I guess cycling still has some appeal.

I think your first problem was that you attempted to hold a conversation with a woman, rather than informing her that she needed to make you a sandwich and keep her opinions to herself.

oh lol. I like where this thread is going.

I remember my roommate always trying to pick up women by talking about being a cyclist and having shaved legs. Never seemed to bring any girls home.
