I'm not convinced either way, and go back and forth on the matter. If a troll, I tip my hat to "I Dream of Riding One Day" for a job well done.

I really don't think the threads you are starting here and the answers you are getting (particularly when you dismiss most of the sensible replies you are getting) are going to make you a better or safer rider.

You need some real hands on teaching if you want to overcome your hangups.

Of course, you may not want to overcome your hangups. Some people are just like that, they think having a bunch of neuroses makes them special or more interesting. Or you could just be a troll like others say.

No I'm not a troll. I'm not in San Fran, but just a little bit south. In the penninsula.

I had more problems with the same spot today. There were 4 or 5 other cars coming from behind, and I kept on looking over my left shoulder, and I was swerving my bike close to where the lane was about to close. I was actually anticipating it very early this time, but due to the 4 or 5 cars it was hard. This is very frustrating. I could have got hurt. This is a downhill situation.

But you didn't and that should be the takeaway. The more often you deal with situations where you might get hurt, but don't, the easier each new situation will be.

Yea but I still don't know what to do in this same situation I've been encountering everyday.

- I'm going downhill
- I know bike lane is going to end, while other cars are turning right and other cars are crossing from the other side of the intersection
- There are usually a few cars behind me, on left side
- I can only see 10 to 15 feet behind me, on left side
- I swerve the more I look and see if cars are behind me

Add mirrors to your handle bars and one of those horns that you squeeze. Problem solved.

That goes without saying.

Where a horn and/or mirrors are concerned, to each their own. I won't use mirrors when I can turn my head. I tried a horn. If forced me to take my hand off the handlebars, and the noise scared me. So I took it off.

How do you signal your intentions?

Just odd.

The adaptations of those with special needs or limitations are different from those who aren't similarly encumbered.

Ran into three bike lanes that ended today. Suburbs are like that. Each time I checked my mirror, turned my head to look, signalled left and merged. No problem. Hey isn't that what I do when I drive?

Sounds like it worked quite well, but driving your bike is frowned on by some around here.
