It's amazing how nice Treks look now that they've stopped cramming decals everywhere they fit. That FX2 is just a handsome bike.

While it is a nice bike to ride, it has never shifted properly and, whenever I took it in to get that fixed, found other things wrong. I have replaced the rear derailleur, the crank, two cassettes two chains and both wheels.

The bicycle now has 4700 miles on it but I could have bought three of them for what it has cost to keep it on the road. I figure that I could have bought a brand new Walmart bicycle every month. It wouldn't have been a fancy shop bicycle, but it would have been new.
That should never happen and it makes me question the competency of your LBS. Have you had other mechanics look at it? I rode one bike from 1995 to 2007 and never had a single issue. Same for the bike I rode from 2007 to 2011.

Yes, that is what everyone on this bikeforums.net says. There isn't another shop that is within what consider to be acceptable driving distance (not for regular maintenance anyway).
I have registered a complaint with the LBS, Specialized (twice now) and will soon ask to speak to the owner of the LBS (he owns two of them and the one he works at is not local).
I will also take the bicycle into another store soon.

Definately follow thru, especially with Specialized. If they have a dealer who is rooking his customers with their bikes, they will probably want to know that.

I hope you get some resolution and a new bike or at least all the repair costs you've paid.

Nice to know about the service you received at the Trek Store. I have had less than positive experiences with another bike store in the same area.

I can only speak to the Ft Wright store on Dixie Highway, but they've been fantastic. Have been back a couple times for fit adjustments/cable tweaking, and they are consistently excellent.

Beautiful bike! I'm glad to hear that you decided the Wally World special wasn't worthy of your hard earned cash. Some people like them, but I've never seen one that warranted my $$$. Some are pretty,...but the quality just isn't there.
