Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My next bike will be...

Play with me here. What will be your next complete bike purchase? If not the model what kind of bike?
Keep it real, not looking for your dream bike but instead of will be your most likely purchase.

I need to replace my 2001 Civic with 245,000 miles and a engine knock for the last 30,000.

I should of done it this winter, but I wanted the bike more.

I'll trade you my 2003 Civic Hybrid with 286,000 miles for your Emonda . Still gets over 55mpg.

Most likely? A Milani 'Via Solferino' fitted out with drop bars and sweet components, sitting on the floor of the shop I frequent - only because it is so deliciously tempting.
If I were smart, though, my next bike would be either a better fitting race bike or a cross bike.

Specialized Tarmac Pro Race, maybe the Pro Race UDI2 if everything has gone to disc by then. My Altamira is completely maxed out and perfect for what I want right now. I'll put about 10k on it before I sell it or maybe just keep it as a spare and upgrade in 2017. That will be a Tarmac though if they're still made. I've been lusting after one lately and I can't shake it.

I'm kinda liking the curvy figure of the Giant AnyRoad 1 and the FastRoad SLR 1. Me have good sexy time with either!

Motobecane Le Champ SL Ti. My 1995 Civic only has 153k miles on it and I'm not sure if it will pass smog this year. Looking at Honda CRV or Subaru Forester as replacement. With gas prices looking to stay low in the forseeable future I am not hopeful that fuel efficient cars are on the horizon. My old Civic still gets above 30 mpg, 35 on the highway.

Ummmm ... not sure.

I've got these ...
-- a racing bicycle ... it's on my trainer.
-- a climbing bicycle ... my titanium.
-- a sport touring bicycle ... getting Machak back in action again
-- a touring bicycle
-- a folding touring bicycle
-- a mtn bike

Plus a Shogun touring-style bicycle, a GT mtn bike, an older bicycle which is now a fixed gear, and a step-thru townie ... all of which are kind of projects. Not sure what they'll end up being used for just yet.

And we've got a tandem.

Only 4 in that list have been complete bike purchases. Rowan has built the rest.

So ... I don't know. What do I need next? A recumbent perhaps? It's on the list and might qualify as a "next complete bike purchase".

If I'm allowed to dream, a Cervelo or a Pinarello. Lower down the dream scale would be a CF Bianchi. But reality is, I have to sell some of the collection before another is added.

A vintage Eye-talian steel bike- likely a DeRosa. Modern bikes are getting further and further away from what attracts me to bikes. (They can take their disc brakes and electronic shifting and shove 'em up their seat tube!)

I doubt I'll be buying a complete bike outside of a close out at my lbs, if I ever have money and they have a bike I want at the same time. If I buy another frame (most likely) it's going to be a stainless steel frame built to fit me, since a comfortable bike fit usually gives me a lot of spacers and a mile of seatpost.

Probably a Felt F3/F5, Tarmac SL4, or Scott Addict.

My next bike would be a Specialized Roubaix Elite. But I just started cycling again this year and I already have 2 bikes, so realistically, my next bike purchase will most likely be 2 years from now.

Looking at titanium road bikes now, Ritchey Breakaway Cross vs Litespeed/Lynskey vs. at the high end Moots.
