I got egged !!TWICE!! last night, but I got revenge!
(I originally posted this in SS/FG but I thought it might be of some help over here too)
Riding along a fairly busy street tonight I get egged, hit me right on the hip and splattered all over my leg and arm. I was pretty pissed, but it wasn't that big of a deal. 15 minutes later, on a side street, the same ****ers come up again and get me square in the back. Then I was furious. I mean gut-churning, boiling rage. I rode about another 1/4 mile and had to stop. I pulled over and tried to calm down. I started trying to think kind, compassionate thoughts about these turds. At first the best I could do was hope they get caught and get gang-***** in prison. Then I remembered that I have egged people (back when I was a young turd myself) and I didn't get gang-*****. From there, it was only a few minutes until I was happy as can be! A big smile on my face, grateful to have a bike and loving life. Being angry really makes me unhappy these days. It used to be that I was always right, I have rights and deserve to be treated with respect and blah blah blah…I had a lot to be angry about (I know some of you guys can relate to that). I just can't deal with anger anymore, I need to be free of it. More than I need to be right, or anything really. I realized that I don't need to live in a world without eggs to be happy. I wasn't willing to place my happiness in the hands of young turds with eggs. I just went on my merry way, mentally wishing the young turds well and thanking them for giving me an opportunity to grow and be a better, happier man. That's the best revenge I could ever imagine.

Knowing first hand what dried egg does to a vehicles paint, I might still be a little pissed after having to wash my bike and hope I got it all off.

at least you didn't end up with egg on your face.
actually, great story. Makes me wonder if riding the bike releases endorphins that mitigate rage.
you are now and ever more may call yourself, "The Eggman". koo koo ka choo...

I might let an egging pass me by in terms of anger, but being shot by a teenager with a pellet gun, I won't let that one go by so easily. My revenge was to read in our local newspaper about a teenager, who lived a few blocks away from my incident, being arrested for shooting his neighbor's house with a pellet gun.

^ Yeah, it certainly helped that I wasn't physically harmed. Had I been, or had they not been able to get away, I'm certain it would have had a different ending. I'm glad it worked out the way it did. It was exactly what I needed to have a growing experience, and I hope that by putting some positive energy into the world, it might even help someone else to avoid being harmed or something.

I've had apples and oranges thrown at me. Even spitballs once hit me on the knee. No eggs ever. Maybe I was lucky.

+1 Rage and anger are like drinking rat poison yourself and hoping the rat dies. (I don't remember who first said this.)

Good story. The older I get the more I come to believe that that is the best way to deal with these types of situations.
I think it is vitally important not to let some dumb-a$$ SOB determine how I'm going to feel.

**** isn't cool or funny, not even a little bit, not even when you get egged. Not even when discussing prison terms for drivers who injure cyclists. Absolutely, totally inappropriate. Do yourself a favor and at least edit your post before any more people read this and figure out what an insensitive **** advocate you are.

Got OP's point entirely--nice story, good ending. Sad that **** culture is so prevalent that hopes for violent sexual assault was initially considered a valid response concerning the situation, and that no one has issues with it...

I got egged years ago, and I too was boiling mad. I thought of stuff I'd seen in the "Hellraiser" movies, and how wonderful it would be to see such stuff happen to these brain stems. But, I also knew that taking revenge would be foolish. These clowns always have friends and they love a fight. One of the things they live for, apparently. Better to just clean yourself, and your bike, and just ride.
Calling the PD will only work if you are quick thinking enough to get the plate number are willing to pursue it.

Good story!
I read a Buddhist proverb years ago and it went (approximately) like this:
A monk was walking down a road minding his own business. A group of young men approached him, taunted him verbally, then knocked him to the ground. A man who observed this act ran over and helped the monk to his feet, dusted him off and looked him over for injury. The rescuer verbalized his disgust with the act he just observed and offered to catch the men and bear witness to the law on the monk's behalf. The monk kindly thanked the man for his service but told him "Don't worry about it...that's THEIR problem, not mine".
So if you are not a Buddhist, you have certainly come upon some good wisdom on your own. Good on ya!

That's the exact way SHEEP get revenge. Baa
At least if you'd yelled something like "I know where you stay beeyotch, better watch your back" even while you were pedaling away.
May have put a thought in their minds about not repeating the same mischief .
Now other cyclist will likely be their targets due to your inaction.

I think taking action might turn those eggs to bricks next time. Dude did the right thing. Kids will be kids. He admitted to throwing an egg or two himself in the past. Eggs, water balloons, jello shots - all things I am happy kids throw at me.
