HATE when that happens. 
I tried to be SO careful when installing the Chinese steel timing cover on the 350 Chevy I'm building, but the edges were sharp enough to shave with.
I should have dressed the edges with a file before making the attempt.

stitches! darn! sympathies. a happy day was when I splurged for an antique pedal wrench. I prefer to position it so I am grasping the wrench arm & crank arm, so I can squeeze them together

I just removed two stitches from 10 days ago. Half filled sparkling water bottle dropped, and exploded, a shard tore through my sock and when I looked down my white sock was dyed RED. so it goes.
I need to remind my son frequently, think about what would happen if things slipped off or skipped... feel for you. things happen.

Might have made all the blood more bearable. Painted cover had to come off to slide a bigger cam into a stock spec crate engine. Worst part was that in order to clean up all the blood, I also had to clean off all the fresh RTV so I could make another attempt later. An ER tech once told me that fingers and faces seem to bleed the worst.

Yeah, punching the chainring while trying to remove a stubborn pedal was the first time I seriously hurt myself wrenching on bikes. I learned a painful lesson that day,

I have a nice, 3" long scar on the inside of my left wrist caused by a slip of one of my plate steel chain whips, mentioned in another thread here. I just never got around to de-burring it.
