Need input or advice
I'm wanting to hang my bike off the floor in the garage when not in use and I've seen single hook hangers that use the weight of the bike to hold it through one of the rims. Is this safe for the rim with the constant weight against it? The other option is for double hooks from the garage ceiling. The drawback on this way is having to lift the bike high overhead every time you want to store it. Is this really a concern or am I overthinking this? Thanks in advance.

As long as you have a strong plastic hook or rubber coated hook to prevent scratches you should be fine for most aluminum wheels.
What type of wheels are on your bike?
20 lbs weight of a bike is mighty light compared to 150 to 200 lbs or so for a bike + rider.

You'll be fine.
The only thing I'd particularly be worried about would be certain carbon fiber rim styles with a non-structural cowling.

I built a rack to hang my bikes---alloy and cf wheels. Never an issue. Heaviest bike is about 30 lbs.

Pulley system, that way you don't have to lift the bike over your head.
