I can hear the French shower contractor who wrecked my car working down the street again.
I was unable to make it back from my trip by last Friday morning, so the tow was rescheduled for this Wednesday.

Never seen one of these before. Spotted it while walking around Windsor, UK. Points off for not aligning the valves.

Zwift "Lap it Up" race series stage 5, Classique: 4th/10 in segregated start A race
Feeling tentative after being sick all week, but in good spirits so I lined up. Hard start whittled it to 6. Then one went off the back and three off the front, and I end up in no-man's land with another rider (story of my life). I tried to attack him several times but finally broke the elastic and solo'd in for fourth. A lot of coasting/cat-and-mouse in the middle, but good workout.
Power profile of the penultimate and ultimate attack on my wheel sucker

In real-world racing news, the district (SCNCA) champs TTT is next weekend, final team practice on Wednesday. One of our team (of 4) had to drop out unexpectedly with some family health issues. So we are no longer eligible for the 140+ combined age category and have to race open/elite with 3 riders.
I felt a bit dejected about it at first, like no I didn't wanna go since we’re no longer in contention for a win, but the other two guys figured we should just go anyway and give it our best shot for fun, which is a much healthier attitude. I’m the fastest time trialist so now I get to take really long pulls… We'll get to iron things out on Wednesday.

The interior was in great shape and the outside looked pretty darn good for its age, 33 years old.

My wheels now look like wheels! They still need to have the tensions measured and corrected, stress-relieved, and trued for good and all, but at this point, you could ride them!
I keep going over them looking for the mis-threaded spoke, but once I got into the rhythm (under-under-over; over-over-under) it was pretty straightforward. Taping the new rim to the old wheel worked great!
Each set of spokes came out easily, till I got to the rear drive side. Whoever built the wheel years ago used some thread locker/spoke prep that really held the spokes TIGHT. Every spoke, each turn of the spoke wrench, the spoke would wind up, then *TICK!*, over and over again, all the way up the threads. The others, I could just back it off a bit with the spoke wrench then use the nipple driver the rest of the way. Not these. The stuff on the threads was reddish brown, and hardened after all these years. ONLY the drive side on the rear.
