New year, new bike-related goals?
2020 is behind us, it's time to start fresh and set new goals as we begin the new year. As the title implies, anyone have anything bike-specific or something of general importance?
Thanks to the pandemic, I startedhoarding collecting C&V related stuff of all sorts and now the garage is full of things that need attention. It's gotten to the point that my collection of stuff occupies half of the garage, and it has become somewhat of a hinderance to get to the car which has agitated my parents quite a bit. I hope to whittle down the amount of bikes that I don't really have any emotional attachment to and fix up the bikes that I plan to keep. Of even greater importance, however, is the need to fix up my Miyata 1000 which is currently disassembled and gathering dust; I hope to get it ready for Eroica CA assuming it will be held this year. But enough about me, what about you?

Not even sure what to speculate on, keep plugging away at the current clip, that being a snails pace means no big revelations that I can see.

Focused approach
This year I want to buy only those items I need for my currently planned builds. So, no new frames (unless its a good deal and I like it.)

I decided to impIement a budget thing with bikes starting from this year. The idea is that I am allowed to spend only a certain amount of money each month on bikes/parts and other bike related stuff. If I sell stuff it adds up to the budget, if I still have money left it goes to next month and so on. This way, I really think twice if I really need to buy something and more inclined to prioritize things. Not that I have a massive problem with spending too much money, but sometimes it's very tempting to buy something just for the sake of having it and not using it.

Tough to do on a mtb, but not on gravel touring.
Have the "tools" and the partners in crime.
Four longer trips are planned along with some lofty weekly numbers.
I may retire in the spring, so that could free up ample time in the saddle as well.

Spend less time on the trainer and more time on the road (paved, off, and gravel). Build a bike from the 50s (a 1958 Claud Butler), a bike from the 60s (a 1968 Schwinn Paramount Tourist), a bike from the 70s (a Mercier 300) and a "modern" bike from the 80s (a 1985 Pinarello cross). Do at least one tough ride next year hopefully in the driftless region.

I already have started . I am repairing /restoring any bike I have (about 5) and will ride and see which ones I'm keeping and like, the ones I sell will be the only money that I used to either buy or sell something else. So the bikes I have, IS my budget . I am allowing 500 which is what I may need for some upgrades and tools to finish off what I have or need to fix up.
I have mostly vintage steel touring,road ,and mountain which are gravelish conversions which I may need a few part. At least that's the plan for winter. I want to look also at Europe as to do some research on touring and visit for looking at homes , locations that have a walking , biking, friendly , good food atmosphere ?? Yes quite a few things but I am actually started , I have a some what organized work area, and set -up...

I have been working up to this but I told my wife this morning so I guess that makes it official. I am going to get down to two bikes. When we started working from home, I started walking everyday and I have really grown to love it. I just got back from one and I even like to walk in the wind (which is absolutely not the case with riding). As of now I plan to keep my Schwinn Voyageur and my newly acquired Netroh mountain bike. The Voyageur will serve as a roadbike/gravel bike and the Netroh will serve as an all rounder/offroader. The money I save not spending on bikes will go toward replacing the camping gear I got rid of over the last 20 years.
This all means selling the 68 Super Course and the 84 Paramount Touring and sending my Paramount mountain bike up to Maine for my stepson. I don't know if I will be selling them as completes or what but I have given myself a bit to think it over.
