Very cool. I'm grappling with those issues as well. Keep telling my wife I'd like a smaller house with a six car sized garage (not that I'd have 6 cars, but the space would be used for a workout room and other things). Ain't happening though, at least not the garage.

Picked up a Varia yesterday. Hope to try it out today if it warms up a little.

Got my clock cleaned but good, this a.m. I clearly hadn't recovered from Saturday's ride. I attribute this to age.
In other news, the S-Works shoes are by far the best I've tried in about 45 years of using bike shoes, which isn't actually saying much.

The owner at the last dealer I worked had a small, older house on a big piece of land. He built a custom 9 car garage there.

Don't feel bad. My wife kicks my ass. We’re heading out on a hilly ride that has a half dozen short hills. That means that I’ll be dropped at least six time for sure.

Oh, there are plenty of guys older than I am who can kick my ass. Lighter, fitter, and have taken better care of their bodies. No to mention they train better.

Not sure I could do that as I don't want a lot to maintain as I get older. I'm sure we'll simply stay where we are as we are well situated to have kids and grandkids stay with us based on the layout of the house.

Found my saddle bag. It was hiding under by dining table on a dark spot on the rug. I think I had taken it off one time when I went shopping due to the presence of sketchy people. Probably fell (or crawled) out of my messenger bag when it was on one of the dining chairs.

Which S-Works did you get? Some of them look interesting, and they've worked for me in the past, though I think that I'd need one of their wide models, now. Too bad they're so freaking expensive for something that I can't shove my feet in to before buying.

We were joking about elder care the other night with some friends. I expressed my wish that my caregiver be a young, blonde, Swede (or something like that). Wife said she could take care of that, but the Swede would be old, fat and smoke.

Guy had a pair of almost new 44 wides, which he couldn't use and sold them to me for 200. I am probably more of a 43.5, but the fit is good and I might be able to use slightly thicker socks for warmth and comfort, which I've always wanted to do. So far, the shape is feels better than my Lake 238s, which put a bit of pressure on the metatarsal area of my right foot and also seem to have to be quite snug to prevent my feet from sliding forward. The real test is how they feel after 3 hrs, though.

7. Yes, very expensive and I'm not at all sure they're worth all that.

And this reminds me that I never did take my Specialized insoles out of my old shoes and try them in the Lakes - I might have to do that. I occasionally have some minor discomfort after loooong and/or higher intensity rides, and the Spec "Metatarsal Button" seemed to do okay for me in the past.

Oh yeah - now I remember you mentioning them. Yeah, that's a pretty nice deal and I would have been tempted, too, if I thought that they might work.
