What road bike do you have?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks Oscar!

I am around the DVP and Eglington area. I have been reading about all the rides in the area and cant wait to get out to some. I used to live up in Newmarket and could ride all the time, I feel like I am in prision here. That is why I am switching over to road biking - its way more flexible in the city environment.

I started out with Shimano as a MTB convert 10 years ago. Given the investment into Park tools to wrench on my MTB rides, I simply stayed on with Shimano road components when I got into road bikes. I have ridden Campy and it is quite nice, don't get me wrong. However, since they are all 9-speed drivetrains, I can easily swap out wheelsets from one bike to another (same 12-23 casette ratio, all have 23mm tires, and every front wheel magnet is in the same place).

Unfortunately, no. We are a minority, a growing minority but, still a minority. I believe there are a couple of Fondriest owners on this forum and a few more that peruse RBR. Other than that, nuttin I know about.

Yep....post pix please. Use the "Manage attachments" tab to upload bmps, jpegs, gifs etc etc

It sounds fully sick. Like a Vini Caldirola team issue from a couple of years back. De Rosa blue, I hope?

I don't know how to post pictures. It tells me that there's a 100K max limit, and I don't know how to compress my files.

Any help?

BMP is fricken' HUGE. There are any number of free and cheap image editors that allow you to scale down images to a manageable size. I use The Gimp: https://www.gimp.org. Works on Linux/Unix, Windows and MacOS.

You'll want to use a "scale image" function to make it smaller in size (600x400 or so gets pretty close to 100k for many jpeg images). Then, if it is a jpeg, when you save it, it will probably give you the option to reduce the quality (by compressing it more) to make it even smaller.

Just purchased, Trek Madone 5.9 Lance Armstrong/TdF Limited Edition (only 500 produced with numbered frames, maybe 1/2 of which were sold in the USA so it's a rare bike for sure) comes with Dura Ace-10 speed. The paint needs to be seen upclose to be appreciated, it is a project one effort that is 100% flawless and has glitter flake in the yellow under the clearcoat. This bike is smooth, stiff, fast and just a joy to ride.
UPGRADES: Stella Azzurra Tirreno bars, Bontrager XXX lite (4 bolt) carbon stem, Bontrager XXX lite carbon seat post, Mavic Kysrium SSC SL TdF (limited edition) wheels with dark blue Michelin pro race tires, record carbon water bottle cages, Dura Ace pedels.
Keeping the stock stuff (Bontrager X-lite wheels, stem, and bars) to beable to return the bike to factory "limited edition" setup or just use on one of my trainers.
https://www.lancearmstrong.com/lance/...sf/html/LABike

I also have 2 very nice, and very fast Triathlon/Time Trial Bikes both with Dura Ace-10 speed
2004 Trek-TT The Lance TT bike is silk smooth and the fastest bike I have ever ridden. (set-up for Ironman triathlon distance, with HED carbon bar, Zipp 404's, Dura Ace pedels, Selle San Marco Aspede triathlon gel seat).
2004 Cannondale Ironman-5000 This bike is very stiff, responsive and fast. (set-up for Olympic and 1/2 Ironman triathlon distance, Slice Aero frame, Profile Carbon Stryke bars, Zipp 404's, Dura Ace pedels, Cannondale Hollowgram SI cranks, Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork, Selle San Marco Aspede triathlon gel seat)
** All 3 bikes below are set-up with Polar speed and cadance sensors to work with my Polar 720i

+ 2-older crap road bikes for bad weather or just training miles
Winter Indoor Trainer: Lifefitness 9500 commerical lifecycle

Dream bike (and next bike): Serotta Ottrott ST

I worked in a bike shop at the tiime and we got ton's (literally they are heavy) of these pieces of Hi-Ten crap. The thiinnest easily bent rims I've ever seen, shoddy welding, and mouse trap compnents. Most of these were red with yellow lettering. I do remember some yellow and blue as well with flourescent cables. Now there maybe some other bike out there with the Firenze name and as a matter of fact I think I saw a MTB in this month's Bicycling (or at least one of the mags I got this month) with that name the other day and was repulsed lol.

What was the groupo on the bike you had? If it was anything halfway decent it's not one of the bikes I'm thinking of. Was it indexed? Even now I shudder at the thought of seeing one of those again. To work on one was a shear pain. HAHAHA

Chris
My sister had this same bike (Firenze GL-2000, 12-Speed Touring) in her garage in Williston Park, Long Island and was throwing it out when I volunteered to prolong the bike's existence. I have since moved to Fort Lauderdale. Appears the reviews on this thread for this bike is that it is a piece of crap. Yes, I'm a cycling novice, but I find this bike rides great and is very fast, though the gear changing can be smoother. Also, I had to adjust the brake caliper because it appears the rims are bent. I should replace them.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that after reading this thread, I looked closer to a sticker on the bike and it reads:

FIRENZE BICYCLES
Made in Taiwan for
DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENTS CORPORATION
MADISON WISCONSIN

Now I know the history of the bike. From Taiwan to Wisconsin to Long Island to Florida. Nice job DarkArrow. Good memory.
