Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Michelin Lithion tires or Easton rims...?

What is it about this combination that makes changing a flat my nightmare? After tons of different tires and rims and plenty of experience, I've never, ever had such a hard time changing a flat. I always got away with just a quick-stik and now I'm struggling with 3 irons to get this tire off. My hands want to blister and bleed before it's seated back on the rim. I refuse to use tools to put it back on, but this blows.

Is it the Lithion tires, or the Easton rims, or the combination? Anyone have any experience with these?

Some tires don't like some rims.

Put the tires in the dryer for awhile.

I've had my Lithion's on old Mavic Open Pro's and currently on Xero XR-1's and have never needed more than one lever to get them off the rim.
I wonder if it's the rims. Do you have another rim you could mount the Lithion's on?

Good thought. I have another set of wheels built with Open Pros. Next time I have the Lithions off I plan to try them on the Open Pros.
