Is ST-4500 Tiagra SIS Shifter Compatible with RD-T661 LX RD?
Okay, I am guessing that the LX RD must be set up for a different pull (flat bar only?) than the Tiagra 9-Speed drop bar Shifter, can anyone confirm? The downshift is perfect until you hit gears 3-2-1, then all goes to hell. Thanks!

Tiagra 4500 9 speed shifters should be compatible with LX-RD661 9 speed rear derailleur.
9 speed road and mtb RD/shifters, except Sora 3000, are compatible.
Not sure why it doesn’t work.

Edit added: Are you running new cables and housings?

I believe all Shimano 9 speed groups are compatible. When you state 3-2-1, do you mean going to smaller cog, or going to larger cog. I am using a Deore rear derailleur, rd-m591, with 4500 9 speed shifters, and it shifts flawlessly. Are you sure the cable was installed correctly? The derailleur needs to be shifted into the 9 gear, for the smallest cog. when installing the new cable. If it is not, there will not be enough travel to cover all the cogs. Also, once the cable is installed, before using the barrel adjuster, make sure the limit screws are set so that the dr cage is centered on that small cog. Then use the barrel adjuster to fine tune.

Oh yeah, It's all good, I work at a bike shop, but this one is a weird one. It's the Low, 2nd, and 3rd only, once you shift down from 4th to 3rd, it hits the low side of the gear and wants to grab the ramps of 2nd... If it was an upshift, I could see the spring being weak, but on the downshift, it's a head scratcher... Thanks.

Beyond the RD and shifters, there could be a hanger that is not straight.
