West Midlands Ti Welder...
Looking to try and find anyone in the West Mids (Birmingham) who can repair my Ti bike frame.
I have tried google and not really found a great deal. I have sent a few emails to a couple of companies but they seem to be falling on deaf ears so wondered if anyone had anybody they use or know of so I can try and get my frame repaired.
Cheers
Ralph

Ask the Bike shops in B'ham/York, yet?
they would know the Bike industry resources in UK
better than lots of people, on line, living elsewhere..
Aircraft repair? there is Ti on some components, Or is that just military use.?
Yes glowing hot it does like to get brittle, by taking in Oxygen,
so inert gasses are blown out of the tip and down the tube.

Sort of fancy welding for a normal shop,Ti is supposed to be back gassed. If not back gassed with a trailing shield on the torch,Ti will become REALLY brittle and fail.Ti does not like oxygen when welded,ZERO oxygen.

What make of frame is it, as it may be covered under warranty.
There are several compaines / builders in the UK who can do Ti repair, asking on a UK specific site like Singletrackworld will get more answers than here, Vernon Barker, Enigma, Dave Yates all do it, but would call them rather than e-mail for a better response time.

Vernon Barker emailed me back. Just sent him some pics of the damage. I tried a few local bike shops (the two I normally use & onyourbike) and they all either looked at me like I am stupid or sounded the same over the phone. Vernon Barker is a bit far but needs must as the frame is super light and would take me ages to afford anything half as good!
