Is the water safe?
The sign on the wall behind the Ranger's station at the junction on Mt. Diablo implies that the water is not safe to drink. Does any know anything about this. I normally refill my water bottles there.

Never noticed that, and I'm still here having occasionally used that spigot for my water bottles. Is it new?

Saw the same sign yesterday. Went up SG and down NG, and also stopped at the fountain near the Ranger house on NG, where a metal sign hanging over it said the same thing. I actually filled up at the Jx, but threw it out after seeing the second sign. Surprised they still had the water turned on. I stopped at the bottom and asked the guy working the NG kiosk, but he had no idea. I ended up stopping at Arbolado Park to refill. I was on my way over Morgan Territory so it was on my way. BTW, definitely a recommended ride...SG and Morgan Territory, super fun, very "climby"!
EDIT: So, bottom line is, I would NOT drink the water until further notice.

i was up there (junction) on Saturday morning about 10. the sign looks new. i drank the water anyway... so far so good. i suspect the meager precipitation this winter may have something to do with it. low water table blah, blah. it's interesting that the faucet that was broken for so long is now fixed, but now we can't (or shouldn't) drink the water.
BTW, the drinking fountain at the toll booth on SG had no sign.
