Ordered a 2015 Cervelo S3

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ordered a 2015 Cervelo S3

I can't wait for it to get here. It was time to upgrade from my completely upgraded 2007 Fuji SL1. Will post pics when it gets here.

Congrats and great choice. I got one earlier this year and love it... have not ridden my R5 and EVO Hi-mod much since.

I test rode a 51cm.. and with running shoes... the new bike felt good.. but without proper attire, I just rode it to ride it. I'm getting a 54...
It was hard to kind of "let go" of my Fuji.. that bike was/is awesome. Kind of hard to realize that nobody wanted to buy a 2007 bad ass bike that was completely upgraded. I ended up getting only 1K for it. I swear I had at least $4k in upgrades way back in 2009... Oh well... now I just need to start scoping out some new rides!

Let that be a lesson for you (and lots of other folks too). You can't make a sow's ear into a silk purse. It is kind of like having the most expensive house in the neighborhood with the same floor plan as everybody else, just fancier doo-dads. You won't get your money out of it. No matter what you did to that bike, it was still a Fuji SL-1 in folks' minds. The SL-1 LEs are selling right now for $1100. You were lucky to get what you did for it. Upgrading a mediocre frame has to be just for your pleasure, not for resale value. Or do it in a way that you can take the upgrades with you to your next bike, like special wheels. That makes some sense.

You should be! And I have to say, sorry if I sounded preachy before. Just trying to make my point. You took it pretty well.

Yeah it is. I haven't ridden over the winter (Last ride was in early November.) and I'm stoked to get out there and tear it up!

What's the weather like? Will you be able to ride it when it comes in or do you have to wait?

The S3 is a great bike. It's funny how so many of the Gramin team chose the S3 over the S5 and the R5 for the most frequent race day bike.

I'm glad to also see you are realistic about the value of your old bike. I'm amazed on what people think an older, or even a year old, bike is worth. EBay,CL, and other places are filled with offers at inflated prices. What's funny is some are ridiculous and the owner is saying "price is firm."

Dude.... a grand for that bike is GREAT! You should be happy. Your mistake (as others have already said) is in doing the upgrades. Upgrades generally only pay on really high-end bikes. Anything else, you're better off just using the money that would be spend on upgrades to buy a better bike, 'cause the upgrades are cheaper when they come already attached to a bike. Just think of the bike you could have bought for that $4K you spent in upgrades! [Sorry....but I'm just reiterating this for the benefit of others....]
