Group ride sprint finishes are the most important thing in my life

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks. I'm kinda embarrassed how long it took me to make that video. All for fun.

You rock.

Link to Strava? For science? The music was perfect! Awesome video. Armenian's move was cute.

I complain a LOT about the weeknight ride all the time on here, but I'd say the best part is the finish. All the weird group dynamics works out for some fun in that last bit.

The clockwise version is a sprint with a technical right, left, right setup. The CCW version is a skinny *******'s scenario of a bunch of repetitive hills in the last miles. Nothing for the diesel guys and "pure sprinters" on that route.

Clockwise is a bunch of cat and mouse for two turns to see who opens up the whoop ass first through the corners. You can choose to hit it twice through 120m then the 200m finish or follow a wheel for just the 200m. It's fun doing either. If you're strong AF and catch someone sleeping in the first bit, they won't close the gap on the 200m. You're not going through more than two wide, so make sure you're 2nd wheel and can corner competently or you'll be behind a scaredy cat and be gap'd.

Personally, the CCW version is totally different. The CCW version of the ride grabs several hills on the way in. I go on the first hill and bury it all the way home for about 10min. I just looked and last time I averaged almost 21mph on my own for that section at 100ft per mile. A gag inducing effort.

And yes, I wear my polkadot jersey for the CCW route. We've a few Rapha velominati types that I know it just drives nuts.
