For your amusement: Jacques Anquetil Bike
For your amusement: a cheap little steel "Jacques Anquetil" mixte:
Mafac brakes with funny little levers, Simplex derailleurs, Rigida wheel set, & universal crank assembly.
I know its not worth anything, but I thought I'd share simply because its a cute little wall decoration bike that I found today hanging in a neighbours garage.
Bink.

Thank for posting!
I like this colour - on the screen here in the public library to looks more apricot than orange.
Does it look like that in person?
We have had a number of Anquetil discussion threads. IIRC there was more than one manufacturer for them.
Brake levers are CLB guidonnet
Ths chainset is Universel, a badge belonging to A. Duprat.
VeloBase.com - Component: Duprat Universel
Hubs appear they may be New Star, a badge belonging to Etablissements Perrin.
Looks good!

I always liked the Gitane seat tube decals with the list of dozens of races won by Gitane. I think it was all races won by Jacques Anquetil.... Someone interviewed people on the street in Paris, a couple years back, asking if they knew who Jacques Anquetil was. No one under 50yrs old had a clue. So sad.
Those CLB staddle cable bolts are really nice. Cool bike. I'll take one in a mens 60cm please.

Well....Thanks for that !
The entire bike was $20 Canadian (about $15.22 US) so I think I came out ahead on that one.
Maybe I'll dust off the eBay account & replace the brake levers with some normal ones out of the spares bin before I flog this little beauty.

Jaques Anquetil was kind of fading from cycling memory by the 80's.
I still remember coming across his name on nailed on metal cycling shoe cleats they used to sell in bike shops up to the early 80's, By then not too many people knew who he was....

I bought this new in 1971 at Paul's Cycles in Windsor Ontario. $120 Cdn. Has been in the fruit cellar of our house since we moved here in 1993. Hauled it out this past winter and got to work on it.

Thanks. Had to find some vintage parts on ebay to keep as original as possible. Think it turned out pretty good. Felt like I was 14 again when I took that first ride this summer.

Note on the Mixtie the Mafac caliper that has the Weinmann form factor.
the chainrings don’t have too much difference- otherwise a terrific example.
bot too small though… seat tube could be 53-55 cm?
