I'll even fan the flames here as well.

This is a replica/tribute/copycat/fake, whatever you like to call it.

It is also stunning, very well done, cool as heck imo and checks many boxes for me including the big one, the big size box, it was traded for a real one that was way too small, useless to me and wouldn't sell for anywhere near what this trade value was.

Its a real Merckx, quite a bit newer than the original and yes with a carbon fork, the paint is flawless, the whole thing absolutely beautiful, never plan to sell it but will tell anyone that asks exactly what it is, have no fear, or do, it's up to you.

I don't follow.
You said this is a fake, then mention it's real.

We've been over this back in the Trek/Masi BA thread.

This one is a later Merckx, not an original 10th Anniversary, the frame I traded for this was but was way too small so now I have this that as I said, is stunning and fits me.

This frame is an anomaly as it has a number hanger and was one of a batch of unfinished frame only's. It is an 96 Strada according to CyclesMakaron who consulted on the project before I even got involved and passed his own judgement as well.

looks like a Falcon to me.

ADD: I have one with the same paint scheme
I think the water bottle braze-ons were added later -- and I'm troubled by that fork; is it bent?

You must be joking, I think we're just getting started.

Here's a "replica" that's priced higher than real Serotta/Huffys Davis actually rode.

^^^^^^^^^^
A classic case of trying to manufacteur value.

TLDR; regular Serrota+paint = $4500

and what you are all missing is that its going to be great ride! there are two bikes that I will love forever and they are a Look kg 96 and a Centrurion Elite RS.

dress it up as a 3rensho as much as you want, or you could dress it as a free spirit... it does not care. its gonna shine through whatever we do-

Personally, I wouldn't do it. It's like putting an M badge on your BMW. There are plenty of replica cars out there so if you're not trying to scam anyone, which you don't seem to be at all, then enjoy!

Nice looking Ford with an uber-reliable 350, what's not to like!

Slapping decals from a much superior bike onto a lesser model kinda misses the point. It's about the ride, the feel, the quality and passion of the builder, and the fact that it is a true work of art; not what the decal says. Pathetic.
