@LesterOfPuppets that is true. this road runs parallel to a busier 2 lane in each direction road. I take this sometimes but it is more of a hill to climb than the other road for some reason. It might just be mental.

I can finally add something to this thread. First off-road ride yesterday on the new Cube. Mostly a local rail trail but I ended up at a mountain bike park I'd heard of called the Color Canyon. I didn't ride any MTB trails but I did the gravel road to the top of the mountain. It was pretty steep and gave me a taste of descending on loose gravel. A bit scary at times.

Rawland xSogn and Zepto Handlebar Bag

Exploring some very old roads in South Dakota. All of the flooding has smoothed out the terrain making it possible to ride along the river banks. This led me to many places that not many people have seen for a while

@str8jakett, those roads look like a good time!

I did the Rodeo Rally today. It is a fun group ride in the North Georgia mountains put together by the guys who run Rodeo Adventure Labs. 46 miles of fun.

The 9er is fixed.

I did get to test ride a too small Trail Donkey 2.0 with a narrow rear tire put on as a spare as well as a too large Trail Donkey 3.0 with 650b and very wide MTB tires. The wide tires were like riding on a cloud I'm not sure how heavy they would be for climbing as I didn't get to do any hills. The 3.0 is a super slick bike - 9-46 MTB cassette with XT derailleur and TRP levers with a Hylex Di2 adapter kit.

I love going to these events - lefty fork slates, guys on old steel frames converted for gravel, MTB's, frankenbikes and everyone is in awe of everyone else's gear.

The quality of some of the pictures posted ... are most people taking them on their phones and uploading or on 1/2 decent cameras and editing or just posting as taken and what sort of file size are you posting ... I tend to make mine more internet friendly.

I ask as I'm booking my 1st ... i was going to say tour ... but it's only 100 miles but meant to be incredibly scenic and out of choice I#d rather just take the phone ... weight / convenience etc.

I have a Galaxy 5neo, an Olympus TG-4 P&S, and a Sony 5N SLR. The Olympus and Sony shoot RAW which is good if you like in depth editing but the Galaxy is up there in terms of basic landscape shooting. The biggest difference is that cell phones usually have crappy zoom capabilities so you are limited in that way. The big thing in taking pictures is lighting and composition which are not camera dependent. Plus you can correct a lot in basic photo editors these days.

These are cell pics:

Decided to get my Salsa going again after riding my steel framed bikes for the last year or so. I like the more upright position with the suspension fork. I am 6'3" and tghe 300mm steerer tube on my steel bikes makes for lower bars.

A couple of weeks ago the water was up to the top of the creepy white stuff.

A few from my ride today. The Hansen Dam basin after the rains.

I did a ride yesterday in Westchester County (just north of NYC). Had a blast on all the gravel roads up there – and it was really beautiful as well…

Restored train station set in conservation area along a rail trail

Sulpher Springs Road, Ancaster Ontario. Almost made it to the top. Picture is about 100 feet shy of the top
Was trying out my new Giant Toughroad. First drop bar bike for me since I was 20. Replaced my Roam 3 hybrid with this one. Handles the bumps, mud, roots and ruts like a pro. 31 km on first ride, thank goodness there were no bugs out or my big grin would of been collecting a mouthful.
