Minty 1972 P-13 Chrome Paramount
I’ve got an electric bike coming soon, so it is time to sell one of my Paramounts. There were a couple threads on the forum about this bike, so I’ll not repeat the history other than to say I’m the second owner and it is one of the P2 stamped bikes. This one would be part of the permanent collection but the frame is 24 inches and a bit too small for me. I’d love to sell this to someone on the forum, but I’m unsure of a fair price.
I had offered just the frame and fork before as I found a 25 inch frame, but I was able to slowly find all the bits I needed for the bigger frame so this chrome bike could stay original and intact.
This bike is complete down to the original tool kit. Also, since the photos were taken, I found NOS wheels, properly date coded, that have not had tires glued on before that will be the ones to go with the bike if the buyer prefers them over the ones in the photos.
Can you help me with what a fair price would be? I’m asking for input on a “friends and family” Bike Forum price, not an eBay rest of the world price. Thanks very much. Jeff

First, wow, that’s gorgeous. Not a Paramount fan per se but I would be after that if I was looking to add given the condition.
As as far as price, I would say $1600-1700ish would be a friendly deal. On an open market, who knows where this would go. Would imagine over $2k given I doubt there’s many in better shape left. I could be completely off as I don’t follow the pricing of Paramounts all that closely.

As someone who was in the market for a chrome Paramount for the last year and a half, sold prices on Ebay were generly in the $1100- 1500 range. There was a painted 72 sold for $1900 not to long ago. I won a pair of Chrome ones 67,68 20",21" for $1500. My thoughts on a bike fourms price $1200- 1500. Ebay price might go to $2000 +, if two colectors have to have it. Good luck with you sale

I really like the looks of the bike and from my experience CL will not yield anywhere close to the numbers mentioned, a look at eBay lists high numbers for Chrome P'S but keep in mind that that market is global and once those that are in the market have made their purchases that will cause a bit of a cool down etc.
The bike is a bit on the large size a plus for some but if a bit smaller would be in the sweet spot..so you might need to wait for a while for the right buyer.
Keep in mind it's a PITA to break a bike down and ship...CL 1000 max eBay a pain in the A.
Good luck with the sale, beautiful bike..why not keep it?

Schwinn may remain known for many years, although, they seem to be completely ignoring the racing market at this time. Of course, that could change through acquisition or change of management.

The car collecting market has already seen shifts from 40 fords to tri-5's now to mustangs/camaros with each subsequent generation losing interest in the previous generations most coveted marque.... high-end bikes like some cars may be different, it just may take a little time for appreciation.
I hope I am wrong and the OP gets the 2000 he was quoted.

Thanks. Very helpful and interesting information. It might be fun to do a thorough ad on eBay just to see where it might land. I’d rather sell it at a discount here, though, just to keep it in the family, so to speak.

Just a thought but I think if you turned the bars down a bit and added some new red bar tape it would up the curb first pic appeal of this bike. Details can make a big difference when selling a bike this nice. I would say $1500 on value just a really great looking bike.
