Araya rim washers

I've got some old (80s) Araya rims that need a washer between the nipple and the rim. The washers are rounded on one side, and flat on the other, like the bottom piece of bread on a sub. The rims didn't come with washers when I got them, and I haven't had any luck in finding them. Do any of you know a person or shop that might have them? Any other ideas of places to look?

Bianchigirl nailed it. Those were exactly what I was talking about. I followed your link, but it takes me to the "Miscellaneous Hub Parts" page, and I don't see anything there that would work.

Hi sorry I posted the wrong link.

https://biketoolsetc.com/index.cgi?id...item_id=SA-NWS

theses washers are the kind of thing I was taught to save when you were getting rid of a damaged rim.

So did the Sapim washers work? I know this is an older thread but, I am in a similar situation myself and wondering how you solved this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes the sapim washers work, they come in 2 sizes... ask for the small on ok? the larger ones wont fit in the hole.

Put together a set of wheels with those washers, work awesomely well. Good stuff.

Wow!
Thanks for the responses. I was starting to stress out. I even went to a local machine shop to see about having them reproduced and the quote was more then getting two NOS sets of Rims that have the washers/inserts included.

Just out of curiosity, Did you happen to use those on one of the Aero type rims. IE an Aero 1 (ADX-1) or Aero 2 (ADX-2)? Those are what I am going to be working on. Also, do you happen to recall if that messed with your spoke calculations a little. I cant imagine the difference would be more then 1 or 2 mm, but still, you know how that goes.

Just to offer up a little information on finding the Sapim Washers to anyone who may need them because I had some trouble tracking them down. (they seem to be hard to get at the moment) You can contact https://www.khsbicycleparts.com/ and they can set you up with some.

Again, thanks for the information!
