You have also inadvertently answered a very recent mental question of mine: Will first generation Shimano STI shifters (I have 6400-era 600 units like you do here, and like them over the DA ones, color-wise) work well with a more modern bar set up where the curve from the tops/ramps to the hooks/drops is much smaller in radius (like how it is where you've clamped your shifters) than older, traditional drop bars. I make a big deal (internally of course) of having a level, smooth, and non-concave/scoop-like transition from bars to the shifter "knob" (where it kicks up 90į or so). These first generation STIs still had a lot of standard aero brake lever "logic" in the way they were oriented to a handlebar. Second generation (9-speed) moved a little more toward the shifter body being longer and a place that would be more comfortable to spend time, with early 10-speed being better still, with the arrival of a long enough shifter body that it didn't matter if you rode a modern or classic drop bar--the shifter body was long enough to rest your whole hand on. That was the second iteration of 10-speed (Shimano 7900 Dura-Ace, 6700 Ultegra, 5700 105).

All that to say thank you! I'm planning on mounting my 6400 STIs on some Soma Highway One compact drop bars soon, and now know that it will look good!
I am very happy with the way this bike handles. Took a spin around town today and it just wants to go. Looking forward to warmer weather.

1985 Schwinn Voyageur

All original besides the biopace chain rings from the newer Voyageurs from 86, and the Shimano 600 pedals

Long drive for this today. Full 600 with Cinelli bars and stem on MA40's. If there's a scratch or nick anywhere, I haven't found it yet.
There is literally a layer of dust on it.
The original owner who built it passed unexpectedly and his fiance' said the interest in the bike was very little. I asked and found out his name
was Danny and I assured her I would give him a nod of thanks every now and then.

Sad - one of us, now gone. Not sad - the bike is in appreciative hands.

Over the winter, one of my projects was to single speed my '87 prelude.
I didn't use it much last year, it's pretty redundant with some of my other bikes, so I thought I might use it more if its set up differently.

even as a single speed, it's a portly 23# ready to ride as shown.
smooth though!

Wow! Late to the game here with this, but another 25" Prologue!!! And in black/grey! 1987 for sure, due to the Shimano 600 components being in their last year (6200 generation) before 6400 debuted in 1988. Mine was/is in phenomenal condition as well, though it seems yours is even better. Regardless, I hope you've been able to run it around some and get a feel for it. A true keeper and a bike/frame that is and should be Grail level for those seeking a top shelf vintage road steed. I just got done changing a few small parts on mine to make it the best and most stealth bomber it can be. FSA K-Force carbon seat post and bars (both stupid good deals, otherwise I wouldn't have them), and porting over some Specialized Ribcage water bottle cages from another bike. I took a photo of it, but in semi-lowering light. Add to that my phone's seemingly lessening camera capability, and there's no way I can share it.

Just picked up this lost soul, a 1988 Premis, pretty much original complete with splatter paint Scott Bar tape.

It still has its White components Cyclone 7000 grouppo, Sakae cranks, Dia-Compe brakes and Tange Levin CD headset. Although in the catalog it calls for it to have dark anodized chain rings and don't think I've seen one with the Dark anodized chain rings.

This was as received . its already been torn down and being cleaned up!.

Another 25" Schwinn! This is my favorite color combo of Premis. Beautiful, and can't wait to see it fully restored!

1990 Voyageur

I've inherited this Voyageur from my uncle, after it sat in a basement for many years. Since then I have completely gone through and replaced bearings and grease. Fresh Pasela tires, a Brooks saddle, bar tape, and I was off. It is a fantastic rider, if a tiny bit small for me. It is great out on the road. I plan some local and regional touring this year. These photos were taken on Wolfe Island located in the St. Lawrence River / Thousand Islands area. At this point the Voyageur has become my favourite commuter. Helps when breaking in the saddle...

I took a short walk from a 18th century church to see a burial ground dating from the settler period. I took a photo of the Voyageur against a tree nearby.

It took a bit, but I gotta say, that newer Tiagra crankset (see the white Paramount above) has reeled me in. It's got that gnarly Mad Max look. Especially in the right light and it turns that mean ass gun metal gray color. Somebody build an in your face black bike around that thing. Not sure if Shimano got it right with the chrome arms, but damn that ring. People are gonna be fighting over those rings. You heard it hear first. And if I'm wrong, you won't remember.

Crazy thing I noticed... this prelude has chromed fork ends. Itís not supposed to. Looking at the specs for 1988, the prelude has a hi ten fork, and the premis has a cromo fork with chromed ends. Tempo has chromed ends and reinforcements... so Iím thinking that I got a premis fork on this prelude from the factory, or they chromed a hi ten fork.

1988 Circuit

I picked up a nice '88 Circuit that I want to rehab. I want to keep it stock since the Sante' stuff is so cool. I have everything except I need a front wheel to complete the build. So I'm looking for a Sante' front hub laced to a Wolber TX Profile 32h rim. If anyone has one please reach out to me. rrudow@yahoo.com
