I didn't make these. But I rode all of them at Bike Fetish Day this past weekend and fell in love.

This cruiser has 36" unicycle wheels and a coaster brake. It's like driving a leather couch around the block:

The lucky owner is the grinning fellow holding the handlebars. If it was my bike, I'd be smiling too.

This one is also made from unicycles. It has two pivot points - one at the handlebars and one at the saddle. Like a "swing" bike but way harder to ride. I got about 30 feet in a wavy line before wiping out, did it over and over, and loved every second.

And this one was made by hand from scavenged parts. The builder is the guy wearing a plaid shirt in the photo. The two seats face opposite directions. Two riders are required - each one operates one wheel. To go in a straight line, someone has to pedal backwards. I got into it with my wife and we almost crashed into several parked cars...

This was a great time, hats off to all the builders and mechanics that showed up with some really sick bikes. Now I want to make one too.

the fender and rack are stock to the bike. I just cut out the middle of the rack to drop it over the fender, and mounted it to the frame instead of the seat binder bolt.

Hey Folks,

Thought I would introduce myself here and show some of the work we have done. This was a custom for a guy in Dallas.

We got some other cool shots of more custom work. I'll see if I can find ones that can be uploaded.

Update for my own ride: cut out the middle to make it lighter, shorter, and improving the turning radius to almost that of the original trike.

Crude? Yes, but that's how 14 year old kids did it in 1969. The next one which unfortunately I never took pictures of had a raked neck and straight forks and rode like a dream. This one rode like a nightmare but I was the envy of the 8th grade for a couple days before the fork broke in two LOL. Pictured are my sister and her then boyfriend, now husband of 40+ years trying to ride it the day I got it finished.....

You can't see it in the picture but the rear fender was metalflake green to match the frame with a gold "lace" stripe down the center. The bike had been metalflake purple before the "chopper" rebuild and I didn't have money for a different seat.

Not cut up or chopped, but I did install a narrower front tire and a set of apehangers.
It's a blast to ride.

Would seem to me that is one of our friends from The C.A.B.E. and that seems to be standard?

I'm Saving Tempest there.

I was only three in '69 but even as a 14 year old in 1980 I think that no matter the era, 14 seems to be the magic age, doesn't it? Even the failed experiments are so wicked cool.

I'm jealous of all the bikes in this thread, and the attention they must get. Wish I had the skills and imagination to make one.
