No, the down tube is slightly oversized, and the seat tube is oversized as it approaches the BB. For stiffness it seems. Hard to tell just looking at it, not at all like aluminum tubes.

Buddy's 1985 Peloton with Shimano 105 and my 1986 Circuit with SRAM Rival. Not pictured on the Circuit are the spiffy new race wheels I got for Christmas.
I also have a 1987 Tempo with Ultegra that was crashed about a year ago. I'm waiting on the insurance/lawsuit payout before it's fixed up to ride condition.

Can someone run the late 80's model order down for me again? I get all confused over where the Circuit/Prelude/Premis/Peloton fit in with the Tempo/Super Sport. They all look kinda the same to me but I'm sure they have slightly different geometries.

The models changed from year to year. The Le Tour (or Super Le Tour) always fall at the bottom of the list, and of course the Paramount is always above these. HT/ST angles were generally 73/74 for the higher end stuff, 72.5/72.5 at the bottom. You can go to https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1981_1990/index.html to see all the catalogs, geometry, hierarchy, etc. The list below doesn't include the aluminum bikes or touring bikes since they're a different category.

I think you left out the Prologue from 88-98, one notch below the Paramount, IIRC.

This thread prompted me to get my 86 Peloton rolling today instead of later this week. I bought it in non test ride-able condition (the tires were flat) and immediately started rebuilding it. A short spin in the street made it apparent that this frame is going to be a treat. So far, it seems that it might be stiffer than my Fuji or Colnago. I anticipate that it will be a great climber, too. The steering is precise and the ride is glass smooth. Maybe tonight, I will get it all set up so, I can take it on a shakedown ride tomorrow.

Peloton come up often enough that I don't see that one moving for $450. A white & black 1986 25" went for a scant $133 just two weeks ago (a local pickup listing that was actually willing to ship).
I have been drooling over the Superbe Pro bits, though.

All the parts are getting transferred to a frame that fits me better. I'm NEVER getting rid of this frameset. Pops gave it to me and it will get built up again in the future.
