Weather turned, short summer this year
I had to battle strong winds for a week, and they blew in a turn in the weather. Riding conditions were pretty good this year, once the cold broke in mid-May.( My avatar photo was taken mid-May! ) But now... This is the shortest "summer" in the 10 years since I took up cycling in '03! I have some nice cold weather gear to extend my riding, but I work in a meat shop and working in cold makes it hard for me to ride in cold. I do enjoy hiking and snow shoeing in the winter, but the "shoulder" seasons I struggle to stay active. 31º this morning, my day off, but I plan to ride for a couple hours. Walking past the snow shoes in the garage has me excited for when I can do that again, soon.

Still feels like summer here, should be mid 70's by later today (low 60's this morning).
My wife and I are going into the mountains this weekend so there should be some good "winter" up there. We've had one snowfall up there already (6,700 feet of elevation).

Shortest summer I can recall. I didn't put away my cold weather gear until June, and I had to break it out again two weeks ago.
I've been letting my SUV idle in our driveway all night in hopes of accelerating global warming, but it hasn't seemed to help.

Yep 30F this morning here with 11mph winds (mostly head). A nippy hour commute in this morning. Summer seemed pretty short here too.

At least we had a summer this year and that was distinctly lacking last year. Summer has even gone into autumn but over the last week we have had stronger winds and heavy rain showers. Temperature has stayed up on the seasonal average but not having many days for outside recreation. Monday and I think we are in for trouble. Heavy rain coming from the west right along the south coast and I am only 6 miles inland. Locally the fields are already flooding with the "Heavy" showers that have merged together but the big problem is going to be the wind. Supposedly getting up to 85mph but we will be right at the Eastern extremity of this storm. Bet all we get is a few showers on a strong breeze but I am already battening down the hatches and tying everything down in the garden. If this storm doesn't come- I'll be ready for the next.
