My mother's dad was in the navy twice between the world wars, once on the Langley, which must have been fascinating. My Dad's brother served on a carrier launching Panthers to Korea. My dad spent his hitch defending Hawaii from the menace of too many pineapples, and getting the high school diploma denied him by his Amish parents. I feel very grateful that they were all able to avoid danger and get so many opportunities, and I appreciate everyone who couldn't.

Riding is a big deal now (its like a virus), and it will only become a bigger deal!

Riding is what keeps me sane and, healthy for the first time in a decade. Stick around here and make yourself comfortable, its usually a nice place to talk bikes and riding with others the same age group. Working on the bases around Pensacola let me stay with the military setting after the flight surgeons D/C'ed me from the Corps for asthma. I work as an engineer on Navy and Air Force construction projects (QCE/M certified by USACE for their work and NAVFAC.) Great people to work with and nice environment to be in, very respectful, well organized and slightly crazy, like me.

24 years was enough for me. Retirement? I've worked as much after 'retiring' as I did active duty. Of course the money is MUCH better.

I was lucky in my service days but can remember the worry of being sent to Asia for a war that the UK was not involved with. Instead I was sent to Malaysia and had just as many problems.
