Anyone USA have a Orbea Diem??? Any dealers here?

I called my LBS Orbea dealer last week to inquire about a Diem S20. He said he'd need to call his supplier and would call me back. Never did Not off to a good start.

So, I'm wondering if anyone in the US has one of these puppies and what your thoughts on it are. I was looking at the Web site early this week and found that there is now an S10, but it's not on the US site, only some overseas sites. It looks like it is actually a step up from the S20 with a 11 speed cogset. Is that right? Ooh, I want!

Any US dealers here that can give me the scoop on the Diem? Are there any 57 or 60 cm sizes left in stock? Is it coming back for 2013? Is the S10 coming???

Never seen one in person, but as far as I'm concerned they're the sexiest hybrid ever given "mass" production. I *almost* chose to buy one when it came time to rebuild my Coda; instead the Jamis is getting treated to a Diem's price worth of new parts.

Due to the lack of response so far, I'm starting to think they haven't been released to the US. I have an email off to Orbea USA corporate. We'll see what they have to say.

I saw the one I mentioned earlier again today. I took a few pic's but light coming through the glass made it difficult. I have to say even a good pic wont do the bike justice there a beautiful bike in nude carbon and full XT.
You can see the price in the middle of the frame.

That is one stunning hybrid. Holy smokes. And of course, still one of the roadies in this forum (https://forums.mtbr.com/general-discu...20-788464.html) has to talk crap about it.

Well, it appears there are no 60cm Diems left in the states and I can't get an answer on if they'll be back for 2013 or not. I asked about the S10 coming and it appears they will not be headed to the states. Too bad So I ordered one of these https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...ss/fx/7_7_fx/# No disc brakes and not quite as stunning, but a nice bike nonetheless. Not available until Oct. 1 so now I have to count the days. Ha!

Nice, definitely a road oriented hybrid or for "speed" If you wanted you could swap easily between flatbars and dropbars at your pleasure.

I remember seeing the Diem on the Orbea website a few weeks back, when their website had some malicious stuff going on with it. But they just released a new website with 2013 models, and the US site indeed has no Diems whatsoever. European versions of the website do have them, along with nearly 50% more bikes to choose from vs. what's on the US website.

That's a real shame. I know there are few that would pay two and a half or three K for a hybrid, but I know at least one And if you're bringing over a boat load of bikes, what's the big deal with throwing in a few boxes of a different model? Haha. I know it has to do with overhead and all, but still...

There is a LBS in town that sells various brands. They used to offer Orbea as one of them, but their new website no longer lists Orbea. Perhaps Orbea is slowly pulling out of the States due to low sales?

There is an LBS here in Memphis that is big on Orbea bikes. They sell lots of them. I asked them about the Diems and they said they could get one for anyone who wants one.

I own a 58cm Diem purchased in December 2011 here in Louisiana. Picture of it is in the 50 plus section of this forum. Bicycles and riders are narrow focused, but I feel my Diem/Campy/disc brake is one of the finest, most versatile bikes ever. I ride 200 urban miles or more a week for fitness and enjoyment. I had no intention of becoming a "cyclist" when I bought this bike, but I just can't get enough. I read in Bicycling Magazine you have to love your bike........

i have over 20k on my carpe diem (the first diem) and plan on riding the thing till it delaminates. its a pity that they switched to xt/alfine for the diem. this is frame that begs for a finely tuned road drive train.

I ended up getting the Specialized Sirrus Limited as my flat bar road bike and will just keep the Mendota as my hybrid. I like the Mendota a lot and although the Diem would be even more awesome, it's hard to justify what it would cost as a replacement for the Mendota. I'm happy Now wanting a Trek Domane as my drop bar road bike. Haha, it never ends, does it?! We'll see where I'm at when next year's models come out and the Sirrus is paid off. Yes, I finance my bikes. The Trek card is a wonderful thing allowing you to do 6 or 12 months same as cash and I'm all about using someone elses money to make paying for things easier!

while i love my orbea i will probably never buy another brand name. they simply cannot compete with high quality taiwanese frames and an internet gruppo.

Good to see someone understands the potential of this frame. I have about 10K on mine with a Campy Chorus drive train. I know very few people would spend this kind of money on an urban bike, but it is a very special ride. I think I stumbled onto (blindly built) a real jewel.

Discontinued and replaced with the very Trek-ish Avant M50:
