Tucker, aka Dude, a piebald Dachshund. Obvious where he gets his rugged good looks.

A most lovely story ... the whole time I was reading it my mind kept saying go and say hi to the owner over and over and then I got to post 48 and saw you did which made me smile.

Since we lost our Labrador 3 years ago we look after dogs that are training to be assistance dogs for the disabled at the weekends ... picking them up from the training center on a Friday and dropping them off Monday morning and have them for 17 consecutive weekends. You don't half get attached to them and some of them could easily fall in the category of "The Best Dog We Never had" as we're only their temporary custodians.

Beautiful dog, I used to have one like that, she was a real scrapper. But that head! Has it been Photoshopped? It doesn't look like it goes with the rest of the body! I bet you get that a lot.

That was a great story OP.
Here's a pic of the best dog I never owned. He was named Frodo and was the camp pet during my 04-05 Afghanistan trip. I've often wondered whether someone managed to bring him back to the US.
