Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Before I hit submit, I meant to add a witty comment to the effect that I expect that attacker to post in due time with his joyful victory over a few noobs who wouldn't get out of his way.

Let's all be on the lookout. Bald dude with moustache on roids.

"The couple described the attacker as a 5-foot-7 inch physically fit bald white man, with a full dark mustache. His black road bike was damaged in the confrontation."

Taking a bike to a knife fight is always a bad idea. Try a gun next time.

That tears it -- I may have to carry a concealed weapon with me now. Do you think the outline of a Glock under my jersey will be too obvious??

I don't know if you meant it to be this funny, but this is hilarious.

I'm sorry but that is just hilarious.

I'm sure you'd be laughing hysterically as he slashed you over and over with a box cutter...

Somebody should have been using a mirror. This could have all been avoided...

The attacker "loudly screamed, "On your left!," then passed by and rode ahead, but quickly slowed down."

My guess is there's a lot more to this story than the article tells us. The perp was clearly fired up to start with but someone in the victim's group likely tossed fuel on his fire.

There's always more to the story, but a lone male cyclist carrying a blade is red flag number one. Attacking a woman is red flag number two. Blowing by them, then deliberately waiting to attack is red flag number three.

Three red flags, and we can say absolutely, positively, with one-hundred percent precision, the perp's a nut. I understand there might be reasons he raged, but planning and following through with a knife attack is proof he's nuts.

Maybe we should require all cyclists to wear mirrors now, just so they can avoid situations like this. wouldn't want to piss off the wrong people...

lol. love the bike to a knife fight comment. priceless.

'He's got a knife, he's got a knife! He's cutting you!'" is also pretty classic.

In a sick way that is funny.

If someone pulled a knife on my wife they would get their face kicked in about half a second. No situational narrative would be included.

Good. Hopefully his bike was very expensive, was totaled, and he can't afford another.

I don't think I could conceal anything bigger than a Derringer under a jersey, but I'll bet I could get my S&W .38 into a handlebar bag pretty easily.
