Not just any golf, but old jocks playing golf. Sterling Sharpe looks like he hasn't missed too many all you can eat buffets.

But some of those old jocks shot the lights out of that course.

In any event, they're promising extended coverage. So stay up a little later. The golf event ran overtime because they had bad weather, too.

DVR is a good thing. Start watching about 45 minutes after the start.

You can watch Eurosport online. Less commercials and some are good enough to watch. Steephill.tv or cyclingfans.com. Be careful of the malware but it s not hard to get around it.

Tour was on live in the morning. This was obviously taped. The golf was live. They stay with live.

Not that it matters, but the tournament was in South Lake Tahoe. My brother got there late in the afternoon for vacation...no electricity due to storms.

NBCS does not suck.

Taylor Phinney's blathering during one of the most interesting parts of yesterday's stage was painful at best.

Phil's constant errors are also a pain.

Go Netapp Endura at least they are trying, hope to see them back next year.

Yup. "Excuse us ignoring the Yellow Jersey breaking up the BMC Train on his own while we skype with Taylor in his parents' basement."

I agree.

It wasn't to long ago that we didn't get any TDF coverage from anyone except for some lame highlights, and forget about the spring classics. I appreciate what NBC-SN is doing for us cycling fans, and oh yeah, I love Phil and Paul to!

I could have sworn that Phil said something about the last retiring Champion's team ending up with Just 3 riders in Paris and that he said Hinault during one of the weekend stages.

Of course it was the last time it was on so I couldn't catch the next airing to confirm.

Just for the record in Hinault's last TDF his team had 4 riders in the top 10.

That's correct. That is the statement I also heard.

How could someone get that far off? Best team finish ever, at least in any trade team era. It is like calling the 1969 TDF a close race!

EDIT: I think I have found what he was talking about. 1980. But I still count 4 memebrs of Renault-Gitanne finishing (34,74,76 and 81). But they are not listed in the team results which it seems was based on the top 4 riders for each stage.

130 riders started, 85 finished. Seems Hinault was not happy about Cobbles in the TDF.

I'm really glad NBCSN picked up cycling events, but can't wait until they start 'sponsoring' every mile. I realize it's a for-profit business, but wow, I'm really getting tired of wondering what's in my wallet. :-)

The key, if you really like to watch the TDF, is to get the web package. There, you get as much coverage as they show in Europe, which you won't normally get here unless you watch a live, unauthorized stream, and you get vastly better commentary in the beginning that you get with Phil and Paul. It's sad that there are so many better commentators than those two, but if you're only a casual fan and only watch the TDF, you are led to believe they're the only ones. Hell, I'd take Carlton Kirby over Phil and Paul, even with his tendency to say "yes" along with half his sentences.

Commercials are rampant in cycling across the globe. Watch a Eurosport feed and you'll see they have as many, if not more, commercials than NBCsn and a good chunk of them are promoting Eurosport services.

Their $15 iPhone app has been great this year. Best Tour-viewing experience I've had (never really been able to watch it on TV). No commercials at all. The audio mix is a little off at times with race audio drowning out Phil... other than that I love it!
