Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Before:

After: Running a 52-17 ratio. Weighs in at 18lbs. Swapped over Sugino cranks and mavic 700c front rim, and bought a new chain, Sunlite fluted seatpost, and FSA Vision TT saddle

Laced the hub myself. Runs truer than before I disassembled the wheel. Vintage 700c Peugeot rim laced to walmart-spec hub. Avenir 17t cog and FSA lockring. And I've never had a problem with the suicide hub unscrewing...I just make sure it's tight periodically.

And that is the original REAL white leather handlebar tape.

Total build cost: $33

Phew that's a beauty, I'd suggest foot retention and perhaps going to your local framebuilder and having track ends brazed on

Panaracer pasela PT's
Among the nicest riding commuting tires I've ever used and dirt cheap too.
They look like veloflex or vittoria evo's w/o the premium bite.
