Stay off Newbury, Charles and Boylston. You're paying to be seen.
Mrs. Shovel and I spent a weekend in Portsmouth NH this month. Talk about a beer crazy town. Happy hours start at 2pm every day and unlike MA it includes alcohol. One store has all day wine tastings starting at 11am. The tshirt store across the street has a bar in the back and two walls full of 22oz. talls from all over the world. Massachusetts just does it wrong.

Sort of. You can have drink specials but they cannot be restricted by time. If you offer a good beer for $3 for example, it has to be available from open to close. While that sounds great in principle, it limits choice because it changes the promotion from the business point of view. What you can do is discount or give away something else, like food. So a typical promotion might be $3 Buds and 50 cent wings.

I've been working in a LBS for the last few months, and I still need to order some stuff on line because none of our suppliers handle Arundel. Just ordered two new Dual seat bags.

ha. I hadn't thought of that. I'm sure they'll do very well with it, and that I'll never use it.

Which one of you was saying you needed winter gear? I have an ugly black and neon yellow warmish Cannondale jacket I'd send your way if you are colorblind and wish to call dibs.

Honestly, I don't have an informed opinion yet since I am not on the Zwift short list for beta, but I've looked at lots of those screen capture videos and also investigated their beta testing forum. From what I can tell so far, tourdegiro.com is more appropriate for my kind of training. It certainly doesn't look even 20% as fancy as Zwift, but the interplay between real riders works quite well, and the variety of terrain is pretty much unlimited.
That doesn't mean I won't try Zwift. If I can get my hands on a newer computer, I'll definitely give it serious attention.

zwift just had another update... have not tried since the update. Still deciding if I should jump on swift or go outside.. 50% chance of rain and it's already been raining on/off this morning.

Someone rode up my back wheel at about 33mph today, he went off the shoulder, dodged bushes and trees, somehow made it through 100yds of gravel and bunny hops, then got back on the road.
I've seen good saves before, but this was particularly noteworthy.

Currently writing my final paper on why MLS is struggling/what it should do to increase viewership. I was surprised to see that it is currently growing at a rapid rate considering how i have never really seen/had any interaction with big time MLS fans (more common to see european football fans).

Seriously though, MLS is pretty big in Seattle, (some) people absolutely love it.
My problem with the MLS is the level of play seems just above collegiate soccer; compare it to Premier League/UEFA cup and there's really no contest. It's gotten better, but there's a ways to go. And even if they got on the euro-level, Americans for the most part still wouldn't care is my guess.

When I got back on the bike after injury I felt like I was made of glass, and waited about a month before I rode with anyone not named fudgy.

The last time we talked about the glass feeling I insisted I do not have it, but after that I really thought deep about what would have happened if I had crashed at that speed.

I enjoy MLS, its gotten much better in the last 5 years with the Beckham rule, meaning teams typically have 2-3 European level players. The Europeans leagues are more entertaining but the MLS is watchable now and the gap is not as big. One good thing for us is the MLS is set up perfectly for international play, since our rosters require a certain amount of domestic players. England and other countries are slipping because their leagues no longer focus on developing home talent, meaning the guys that would blossom in 3-5 years are cut and replaced with an able foreign player.
