66 miles with 3300’ of hills. Rode from the house a good ways towards the coast. My wife picked me up in our van and we drove the rest of the way to the beach.

Today’s ride included about 35 miles of new roads to me including part of the Southern Uwharrie Bike Route.

The Arkansas River Trail in light rain, didn't push it, just rode my bike. It still is under a lot of repair after the flooding late last year. This log in the tree boggles my mind. The picture doesn't do justice to how much water there was. That log is more than twenty-five feet above the mean level of the river (the tree is on the edge of the embankment, the river well below). The various agencies are making repairs and hopefully it will be back up to spec early this spring. Still, a good ride.

Log in tree.

Hard to fathom all of the images displaying green lawns and posts describing warm ocean breezes. We're still in winter mode here and forecast is for another 1 1/2" of snow overnight. It's still relatively cold but I'm glad to say that the worst is behind us. Rode to a local recreational park today and only came across one other cyclist on the trails. The tree lined trail on the way to 3 Mile Bend provides solitude and tranquil rides are virtually guaranteed during the colder months of the year. Today was no exception.

This 130 yr old Canadian Pacific bridge was converted to multi-use and provides quick access across the river to the other side of town.

My trusty steed.

All of the trails along the way are well groomed and maintained by the local municipality.

3 Mile Bend Rec Park- This jump ironically is used by the local free-style club as a practice venue during the summer months. The designated off-leash park is also a popular spot for dog lovers.

Early Sunday morning, 18.2 predawn miles. 34F and still. Playful hills. One of the roads on this route feels like running with the bulls in early evening (exciting but maybe not the best idea), but at that hour I had it to myself.

Short 35 miler in the computer this morning. Met STRAVA friend "Ghost Rider" for 31 of those miles and he did a great job of grinding me down while he barely broke a sweat. Heading to WM on the Grocery Grabber for some NA Beer and other less important necessaries (food) then what ever the day brings.

It was a great day in NYC, 60+ degrees, so I did 20 miles outdoors. It felt great, all that indoor riding gets you in really good shape. I wasn't pushing it but it felt like I could go a lot faster if I wanted.

Yep

Back on the bike after a 20 year span. Quickly found out that my 96 Stumpjumper on modern trails is great if you like fear and pain.

81 miles completed so far in Segment #1 of today's Leap Year Day's Century +

Had to get back home to warm up in a HOT shower, get some food, clean kit and now back out.

Winds went from 5mph for overnight ride to 20+mph for 2nd segment. Added another 44 miles for 125 mile total today.

Took a week off from the bike and golf and went to the beach with my wife and another couple........ate way too well........enjoyed a variety of brown ales and several bottles of Italian wine....put on 4 lbs. Was dreading the first ride back but felt decent and got in a glorious 77 miles today. The more I rode the better I felt. I could hear my buddy telling me “you really ought to make it a Gillon” as I know he certainly would have ridden a hundred miles.

Now I’m wondering if I should change my “training” to include more brown ales & red wine???

Simple color, Campy, tubulars. That's the way I like my bikes.

But probably 19lbs as pictured = heavy by your standards jppe

edit: Another of my new bikes:

Built to be a 'forever' bike as aging shrunk MY frame, but it hasn't happened so forever has yet to begin (i guess). Hence, 14cm of stem.

46 miles on the West Orange Trail today. Stunningly good weather -- highs near 70, clear blue sky, light breeze. I'm riding a half-century in 3 weeks so this is nearing the end of my training ramp up and all's well. Well, except for speed. Sometime between my 30 mile and my 45 mile rides the speed just disappeared. Good news is my 50-miler is about distance and having fun. Pretty sure no one is timing me, and if I can at least come in before Grandma on her 40 lb. Huffy I should be good.

I've got an 1100 mile base of training for this upcoming ride, but with no focus other than piling on miles. So after this ride I'm letting my triathlete son give me some training tips so my next rides will not be so turtle-like.

On a side note I saw a first -- a fat tire trike. Looked nice but I bet it was heavy. And it sounded like a Jeep on the road.

training, given your mileage, benefits greatly with various breaks

yes to the new proposed regimen. More red wine than ale in a month.
