I'd like vaguely-tight-ratio cassettes to make a return.

My Christmas wish is to get out riding. It will be three weeks since my dental implant tomorrow. Cycling affects the body's ability to heal bone. Right now I walk while my kids ride.

I wish to continue to increase strength and decrease weight. Damn Santa can't deliver that to me though.
At some point this winter...a jersey from twinsix or pastime as I don't have anything from either and have been curious. And a new helmet since the Kali one I bought a couple months ago is woefully unimpressive in fit and finish, especially for the cost.
Some road tires for one of my bikes will be ordered soon.
If I win a big survivor pool I'm still in, ill take a small bit of the winnings and get a modern MTB frame to build up. That'd be sweet.
No actual plans for any big purchases though. Just typical maintenance of my current cycling world.

I had an implant done and didn't change my cycling schedule. The oral surgeon prescribed some specific vitamins to take. IIRC it takes about 4 months before the next step in the process

I wish carriers like Fedex, UPS, USPS, DHL, etc. would stop loosing items shipped to me. Right now I've got no less than 3 packages supposedly headed my way that have been "pending" for a week or more. It's beginning to feel personal.

Dry and calm winds on Sundays when I do longer rides and less pain in my left knee from OA.

Good health and weather over the holidays so I can get in lots of riding.
Would also be nice to finish my Tommasini Racing Frame buildup completed for some more classic steel riding.

Why would cycling not improve the body's ability to heal bones? It promotes better blood circulation and cardio which should help the body to heal?

My assumption is that it's because cycling isn't weight-bearing. Bone density loss among cyclists is not uncommon if they're not cross-training or doing some kind of weight-bearing activities.

Yeah, in the weight-bearing bones, not the jaw or the maxilla. To mess that up, you have to smoke, take corticosteroids, be diabetic, ancient, or otherwise unhealthy.

I call the LBS inquiring about ordering a DI2 upgrade and only maybe 2 of the parts will be available in a couple of weeks. The rest are backordered till February!
I turn 40 in February and was thinking about getting the Di2 as a present for myself. I have to order it now if that's the case!

Done to the point of real stress it could delay healing, but I've never heard of anyone having to stop exercising for a dental implant. I rode right through mine, but what do I know?

I'm a pretty healthy guy, only 40 and pretty active. Don't know if what the periodontist said is true, but I've had two implants fail already, and he blames my cycling. He claims he had another patient who cycled a lot and his implant failed the day after it was put in.

I had a cervical fusion at age 54 and was congratulated by my neurosurgeon on how fast I made bone for an old feller. So, there’s another anecdote for you.

I’m a physician and actually looked this up a bit because it sounded strange to me. Found nothing other than the well-established data on cycling doing nothing particularly good for the hips and spine. However, your doc is your doc and might know something the rest of us don’t.
