Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ritchey Logic

Hi guys, it's been AWHILE since I posted. I've got a question. I have been really hankering for the Ritchey Logic for a bit now and recently found one on Craigslist for 500 dollars. It is from 2015, though, with minimal scratches and comes with a carbon seatpost and FSA bottom bracket. I'm wondering if saving up the extra 500 , though, for a new model. Any input? Thank you kindly.

do you like the paint scheme? If so I'd buy it. I've read that older models have a tough time clearing bigger tires, so if you want to ride over 25c tires maybe bring a wheel with a tire installed so you can check.

Yeah, the new ones clear 28s. The problem I have is that the new ones are also sky blue.

Isn’t a new road logic around $2,500?
A five year old model in good condition for $500 would be a steal imo

the OP is talking about frameset prices.

I also believe the new framesets are $1200, not $1000, which puts a different amount needed to save to get the new one.

I’ve seen them for $1050. Either way the OP is clearly talking about frameset prices, not a complete bike.

Since it is “ritchey” and “rare” almost a candidate for modern vintage later on it would be worth your 500 even get him down to 400 and you’ll be getting a good price for sure

I don’t think “rare” is really appropriate, but it’s a good deal on a quality steel frame. If it fits, I would buy it.

OP, If you love the frame, after riding it for long enough to know, get it painted whatever color you love.

Honestly ritchey did the best they could with blue with that super metallic blue. I like it for what it is. That being said though, blue is just not a great color for a bike and often comes out looking cheap. Op got pics of used frame in question?

It looks dope. Bring some wheels when you buy it to check the alignment

If you're worried about scratches, don't be. As a further measure, you can find "Nu Finish Scratch Doctor" at most auto parts stores and that stuff is magic on scratches. Amazing even.

Personally I love the 2015 Road Logic, but it does have some issues:
-Tires larger than 25mm can be a tight fit. On mine I run Conti GP4000S2, a 25mm in back and a 23mm in front because the 25mm hit the bottom of the fork crown.
-Campagnolo chainsets fit very tight to the chainstay. I have maybe 1.5mm clearance between the inner chainring and the stay.
-It's a bit on the heavy side (mine's 19 lbs ready to ride w/o bottles,) but really not bad for an inexpensive steel frame.
-Everyone seems to love the color when they see it in person. I'm constantly cleaning their drool off the bike.

I absolutely love the way the bike rides, enough that my beloved Damocles got bored and found a new home.

If it fits, and it looks like it is great shape, I'd grab it for $500.

I wish I could get one with the new tire clearance in the color of yours. Heck even a good deal on that vintage might work, with a new fork for bigger clearance up front. If you can fit a 25c Conti on a Hed+ that's legitimately 29mm probably.

They dropped the price of the road logic and a new one can be had with 105 for about $1500
I am seriously looking at one myself

Hey guys,

So I pulled the trigger and bought this bike! This will be my first time building a bike from the frame up. Any recommendations where to start looking?

Nice. If I didn't already have and love a Guru steel I'd buy that Ritchey in a heartbeat.

UK online retailers for groupsets but prices are not as great as they were a couple of years ago. Ebay, Craigslist, Facebook groups, local cycling clubs, Nashbar
