I just can't catch a break. I had a mid-sized consulting job lined up and the $'s just became available. The bad news is that the company I'd be doing the work for is a big multi-national and the lion's share of the $'s are this year's and their year starts on Oct. 1. Given the time frame they cannot set up a contract with me, but they can with my school because all of the "agreements" are in place. So, now I get to do the work, don't get released from any other duties while working on it, give all of the money to administrators for overhead and salary savings, and I don't get to see a nickel.

Broken hearted this morning.
I planned on taking my youngest daughter to her first day of middle school. I told my wife about it and mentioned it to my daughter.
But, they all planned around me to ride with someone else ... they're mom. It was like I wasn't even involved. My wife just brushed it off like I didn't even say anything. That is until this morning when they saw my at home.
Oh ... what are you doing here?
Something fishy is going on at home - seriously. You ever get that feeling? You know? And I'm not joking here either.

Thanks. It is hard.
But I think others have a harder path.
What I don't understand is how some undergraduate engineering students that I have known have found the time to be competitive at a national level. And by being competitive I mean actually earning National Champion Jerseys. I've known three of them that actually earned those jerseys and a couple of others that were close to that level. When did they sleep?
I'm not allowed to say much about there academic records due to Federal Laws, but I think that I can say some things that are public record. Two of them graduated with Highest Honors and I was their faculty mentor for their project. I don't think that the two students know it, but one of the members on their committee was a world class triathlete and he was really interested in their "aero" front brake design.

less and less available these days. I don't think I have any in my condo. I don't get the newspaper. At school I would go grab a handful of the free school paper at the end of the day to stash in case I needed it for this reason.

I won't. But if things get bad y'all might want to put me on ignore. Because this time I am not letting it bring me down and I will NOT let it all be my fault. Like 95% of the time I'm led to believe.

It's not easy on an old guy like me. Yesterday I drank a gallon of water in 2 hours and was still dry.

5%? You get to be right 5% of the time? Sounds like a great woman to me.
Making a kilometer blurry
Sucks. It's important that she understands how you feel, and you need to understand wtf happened. Make sure to leave your daughter out of it. Completely.

Accused drunk man jailed after arguing with bike; argument winner unclear
By Will Greenlee on August 25, 2010 7:31 AM
A soused Stuart man was jailed after deputies say he was engaged in an "obscene argument" with his bicycle, a recently released arrest affidavit states.
Martin County Sheriff's deputies spied Richard Bialon, 68, around 4 a.m. Tuesday "yelling at his bicycle" in the parking lot of a Mobil gas station in the 3900 block of South Kanner Highway.
"Customers were coming to the Mobil and were very disturbed as to the yelling and obscene argument the defendant was having with his bicycle," the affidavit states.
The affidavit didn't specify what the argument was about or whether Bialon had accused the pedal-powered vehicle of wrongdoing.
Bialon, of the 5500 block of South Kanner Highway, had been imbibing all day and was described as "very intoxicated."
He was arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly intoxication charge and taken to jail.

I've worked at a golf course for the past 3 or 4 years. We watered way more than we have since I started. We managed to stay on top of it, but it took a lot of extra watering.

Anyone want to tell me how I can get two girls to talk? One acts like there isn't an issue (self-righteous) and the other is really sensitive and upset (a self professed crier). Wohoo!
