That is weird looking because they're only on-screen for a couple frames at 30fps so that's maybe 1/15th of a second. Kinda looks like those animation flip cards.

A teammate created this for our local series. Some on-bike shots (and and obvious kit in the pack) are from the elite nat. crit champ:

Thanks! Nice video as always!

I got dropped after few laps in every race. Perhaps it wasnt a good idea to do my first track race after being off the bike for two weeks

Next time you'll kill it. Good to see you and others out there doing it. Made me a jealous. I'll get out there hopefully this Friday. I didn't realize there was such "colorful" language from the crowd directed at the officials. My favorite was during the Miss and Out when a controversial call was made and someone yelled, "Thanks for f'ing that up". Then later on the announcer (who sounds just like Ralph) saying "Most people don't recommend racers holding a beer in front of the officials." Fun stuff.

Here's a barcam of Sunday's City Park Criterium in Denver, the 35+ cat 4 field. I took the first two laps, all three prime laps, and the last four laps - except that when I restarted the camera at four to go I knocked it loose, so that part's on the crappy side.

This is basically the same course as the race I posted a couple months ago. I like to think it shows some improvement in my riding, if not my videography. The course is heavy on the roundabouts, which I find kind of fun, something different at least, but that feature seems to make the event less popular in general.

Nice. I remember that race. Last time I raced it was as a cat 5, and we were able to run both citizen and cat 4 races the same day (2nd and 3rd for me). Back then though, there were no roundabouts, and there was a 130-degree right-hand dogleg turn that was causing some crashes, as it was a 250m to go. Back then Turin was sponsoring the race... are they still?

Did you used to live in Denver?

Yes, Turin is still sponsoring. It's one of the longest-running races in Denver, and it's been Turn for at least most of that time.

I did the race back in '97 as a cat 4. It was my first good result after moving to Colorado (it took me a few weeks to adapt to the altitude). It was the same course as now, except the finish was on the long straight on the bottom and they took the easy way across what is now roundabout 1. I know that for a few years after that, maybe in the early naughts, they used a longer course that I think had the 130 degree turn you refer to, but it also used couple of the roundabouts. I wasn't racing then but I live in the area and wandered by a couple times. When did you race it?

A teammate produced another film of the US crit champ racing at The Driveway. His team is the wheel he's on at 1:22 (red S-Works). Strong team around here. Having been out of racing this year, this film got my heart racing thinking about it...

Yeah, I did that. Youtube was wrapping the URL with something strange and it 404d. I tried the main URL and the "Share" embed URL. Maybe they were just glitching or something. I decided to do a plain link, because at least it worked...

Yeah, I like it too. Lots of good stuff in there (much of which is covered by CDR in various posts and videos). It's cool too see it all in action from the view of the guy wearing the stars and stripes.

BTW: the red mohawk is the "jersey" for the most aggressive rider from the previous week.

Here is the video comprised of clips from our LAVRA track racing at the Velo Sports Center. Racer Ex and I are the first team off. Some great video of fling 200 meters, 500 meters, pursuit and team pursuit. No buffets. Just great racing.

Here's a barcam of the last 9 laps of the Colorado state criterium championship, cat 35+4. It's a very technical course - relatively narrow, and six corners per 70 second (at cat 4 speeds) lap. Because of the course the field limit was reduced to 50, but even so we had four crashes.

I moved into decent position with 2 to go, only to become skittish after taking a solid bump while next to the barriers. I finished 14th, which was a bit disappointing. As always, any technique critiques (riding, not movie-making) would be welcome. After all, the main reason I stick the bar cam on is so I can critique myself.

BTW, I put the camera under the bars because of the problems I've been having with the mount. It's not the best perspective, but at least gravity keeps it steady. I'll try to figure out a fix before 'cross season (this was the planned end of my road season).

Your sphere is way, way, way too big. You place yourself split between two riders, but your draft rider is too far up the road to get any benefit. Your cornering is not tight and efficient, as you seem timid going in and coming out. Nice job avoiding the downed rider. Nice course. I would spend some time on your next group rides and practice crits on reducing your sphere and cornering with more authority.

Thanks for the feedback, Shovelhd. I understand the "sphere" comments well enough (obviously not well enough to have fixed it yet, but enough to understand the problem), but I'm not as sure what I need to be doing differently with respect to the cornering. How would my corners look differently if I was "cornering with authority?" Sorry if I'm being dense, but I really would like to improve this before my next road season, and the clearer sense I have of what I need to do differently, the more likely I am to pull it off.

CDR has some good footage, I may have some soon as well. Basically, you need to drive into the corner harder and come out of it harder to minimize the gaps that you end up chasing.
