Fall Forum Ride-Oh My Dang II

Just got in from the fall forum ride. It was once again a super good weekend of riding, and hanging out with good people. Gastro and crew were pinnin it and and rollin on hardcore rides and super cool as usual.
Never is an amazing rider and a super guy to boot. He busted our chops to the top and then killed it to the bottom. He and Girlscout really hit it off and I kinda expected Girlscout to defect to Canada. There will many catch prases flying around for a while. I really have met some of the best people on these camp/ride trips and really hate to see all the guys go home. These are people I could hang out with every day and never get tired of their company. Flak is someone that all of you should meet at least once. He is a super funny guy. No Pheard,he didn't get pwned by anyone. The talk around camp was how good he was to come from a place with no really hard riding. He was very impressive. CurtisElwood was a great guy to hang aout and ride with as well. He rode the terrain well and he has mad camp fire skills. I've got a yard full of wet camping gear and a bunch of stuff to sort out so I'll post pics and a detailed ride report later. Just remember......It's all fun and games until someone sets the dog on fire!

Several of us ate dirt. If you're not eating dirt your not riding hard enough.

Thanks for being such a great host 66. It was an awesome time all the way around. I was pretty conservative, but I was getting into a nice groove by the time we got in a rythm in DuPont. Those trails are very much my style. It was also cool to link up what I know about the rivers in the area to the trials we were doing. Your crew has mad skills. It was pretty sick watching the many micro-sessions that cropped up randomly.

Everyone was great to ride and hang with. Particularly Flak, who despite me calling him a ******, gave me his last burger. Thanks man!

I'll be back next year for sure. Wait, I'm still here! I'll probably ride at least one more day at DuPont this week between paddling.

You missed out on a good time at Asheville Pizza and Brewery with Gastro and co. I tink we got a pitcher of just about every beer they had on tap.

Keep on pushing those big bikes up hill. You're doing great!

I've seen that some where before... hmmm.
Sounds like it was a good time, as I expected it would be. I can't wait to hear the stories from gastro and company.

Hey I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, but i was wondering of any of you had heard from Rob? I last spoke to him on Saturday and he said he'd be coming home Sunday night...but he's not home yet, and i cant reach him. I'm getting worried.

He said something about a Yeti, a burning dog, and a death march. What does all this mean?

Gosh, I hope he's okay.

The last I saw of him, he was scratching flea bites and wandering erratically off into the forest with nothing but a jar of Nutella and a tire lever, mumbling something about needing a dh bike.

That was right after he impressed everyone with his mad cooking skillz...Auzzie burgers for everyone...hold the beets!

But seriously, let us know when you hear from him...he did say that he'd leave Cleveland for NC in a heartbeat...and we did check out some property for sale after a ride...either that or he may have had another run in with those bear hunters that told him he had a purty mouth.

I didn't eat dirt but I did eat bridge...and I definitely wasn't riding hard enough when that happened...but I think all who observed thought it was entertaining.

Damn, every single forum ride thread I read just makes me want to go more, sadly the airplane ticket fund hasn't gotten anywhere since last year.

It was hairy, but i made it back. Sorry im late, i doubled back to do the death march again, then wheelied the whole way back up the fire road to hit caney bottom one more time, all before dark no less! Seriously though, the drive back sucked.

Oh my dang i had a good time! Great trip, great people, great riding. White knuckle fun Cheers to 66 and girlscout for setting it all up. Don't believe that never can climb, we all rode the whole way up and had to wait for him to walk it. Gastro put us all to shame on the climbs, sometimes even doubling back down to let us all know we're doin great! before spinning back up. If any of you camp with curtis, don't make fun of his fire, he'll kill ya! To be honest though, the dude did a great job with the lousy wet wood we had, props to him there. Was cool to ride with the re:cycles crew, smooooth, thats the best way to describe thier riding, except for the pinch flats ofcourse

I didn't eat dirt pheared. I skipped the dirt entirly when i went down at speed and torpedoed head first into a pile of brush and logs. This was after i picked a bad line on a skinny decent and nearly tumbled down the side of the hill

Free pizza - I wasn't sure how my hardtail would cope with Pisgah, but it did a fine job. Just drop the seat, get over that rear wheel and go! As girlscout says, us hardtailers still have 11 inches of travel in our legs
